I bought hero maestro on 25 th of July 2013 from jeetendra hero nasik Maharashtra. Before that I visited Honda showrooms because the craze for activa is so widely spread that one starts their search for moped from activa. but waiting period of 90 days suddenly made my mind to rethink about my choice.
I started looking for other choices like aviator, access.
But the elevated back seat of aviator immediately turned me down. Access being 125cc comes out to be low on mileage and smaller seats which I definitely not wanted.
So finally I went to hero showroom. I saw maestro and I immediately loved its look. The perfectly wide back seat is perfect for my mother to seat comfortably.
The digital odometer and attractive speedometer looks high class.the ability to calculate trip distance is best to know accurate mileage. Till now I have covered 400 km, most of them in city roads with potholes.the handling is ideal on Indian roads. I must say the suspension is not great but adequate enough.
Now the down side and a decision maker for us is mileage. Company claims exorbitant 67 kmpl which is quite funny.they are making mockery of our hard earned money. When I received the delivery person claimed it has half litre petrol.
After riding 2 km I filled petrol worth 200 rs that is 2 and half liters.within 2 days with 70 km ride the bar for low fuel starts blinking.that means the scooter drank 3 liters in 70 kms, I was like WTF!NOW calculate mileage 70/3 and that is less than 24kmpl.it is better to drive maruti 800 than this.
I went to showroom immediately, person assured me initially there will be mileage problem but will get sort out after first servicing. I was not satisfied with this answer but left with no option. I filled 200 rs petrol again and reset the odometer reading to calculate the kms drive and second time the fuel indicator starts blinking by 85 km. I was happy the mileage was greater than 28.third time it is 96 km for a fuel of 2 liters and 700 ml.and finally for 200 rs petrol and 300 ml already in tank I got the average around 39 kmpl.
I know it is low but considering the fact it will improve after servicing I am expecting it to touch 45 to 48 kmpl which is satisfactory for me considering the traffic and road conditions in my city.
