Another weekend- and movie freaks will be ready to rush to multiplex with their near and dear ones - and for this week my recommendation is Hello, which is based on Chetan Bhagat's massively successful 'One night at the call center' ofcourse with a confession that there is nothing so great in this movie - but it is time pass!

Ofcourse the book was mediocre and will challenge your commonsense but I salute Chetan Bhagat for becoming succesful in the niche field he opened - "At first story telling in Indian English with the same technique - Friends, Women, Sex, Misunderstading, happy ending and novelist's presence" and now as "Script writer". I think by this time, he would have resigned from Deutsche Bank to pursue the full time career of succesful script writer. He knows that he is not a great literary giant and made some statements in the prologue of the last book "Three Mistakes of my life" that "I dont want to be the most respected writer but I want to be the most loved writer"

How ever - he was succesful and he was not doing any illegal activities - hence, I like him - As simple as that. But ofcourse - I cannot give him the place of Mahakavi Kalidas or James Joyce.

Chetan Bhagat made some changes from the original version of his novel to suit the requirement of bollywood.

The book begins with a train journey where the author meets a hot girl on a train and she tells him the story of employees in a call center. In the movie a shirtless Salman Khan has an item number and he meets a hot girl (Katrina Kaif) and she tell him story about call centre on the condition that he will make a movie on the subject

Plot Summary

The story is viewed through Shyam, a call center agent and an aspiring team leader. The story revolves around him, his colleagues Varun, Esha, Radhika, his girl friend Priyanka and an aged Military Uncle. Shyam rues his break with Priyanka apart from the threat all of them face on the uncertainty of their future at the center.

The happenings of the night carry the romance and break up interludes of Shyam and Priyanka as flash back. Each character has a story to bemoan. But, the narration runs interestingly because it has the natural flow and the high sense of humor of Chetan Bhagat.

Shyam (Sharman Joshi) is the protagonist who breaks up with Priyanka because her mother does not approve of him. His temporary girl is Shefali.

Priyanka (Gul Panag)loves Shyam, but has a tendency to fight with him often...ofcourse with reasons

Vroom aka Varun (Sohail Khan)has a fascination for high speed, cars and bikes. He is confused, yet patriotic and is dissatisfied with himself.

Esha (Esha Kopikkar) is very attractive and wants to be a model. She has a crush on Vroom but pretends otherwise.

Radhika (Amrita Arora)is a married woman trying hard to keep things together at her home. Her husband is demanding and also not loyal with her.

Military Uncle (Sharad Saxena) is the only elderly person in the team, who handles clients via chatting. He does not speak much.

Bakshi (Dalip Tahil) is the upstart manupulative antagonistic boss of the above. He is the typical sleazebag in the office.

Systems Guy (Suresh Menon) The Systems guy of call centre who was not having any significance in the novel

Anuj (Arbaz Khan) -Radhika's husband

After a series of events, the six co workers go off on a drive to a club... and they meet with an accident...and they get a call from someone unexpected - God.

If someone want to watch this movie ----- the following are the points in favour.

a) Yeah - it has gives you an insight about the issues faced by call centre employees

b) Sohail Khan - Hats off to his characterisation which made me laugh loud. I remember Uday Chopra's grace in him. He is sportive and such character suit him. But ofcourse, he got a terrible limitation while sustaining the efforts.

c) Sharman - Already proved as a good actor did total justice to his role. Also, he is signed for the movie 3 Idiots based on CB's 5 point some one

Some thing that could have been avoided

a) In the novel - Military uncle was more serious but in this movie he is a bit more lively -

b) The intesity of the issues between Shyam and Priyanka is not shown in the movie and hence those who read novel will feel that they were never apart. And hence her marriage and related tension has got no significance

c) Systems Guy - Suresh Menon's character is a completee waste. It was quite unncesessary to include such a character. And the jokes of Mr. Menon sucks

d) Shyam's m onologue through a poltergeist shaped creature - seems to be kiddish

e) Bakshi's character - it didnot portray the manupulative manager - but it resemble more of a comedy character yelling and howling ---

f) Well - the way in which the call centre employees save the employees from right sizing in the novel itslef was quite an idiotic idea - but in the movie the same is shown in a pathetic manner. Also, Bakshi getting fired all of a sudden by the 'Gora" based on the allegations raised by agents and Bakshi leaving with out any hesitation, some agents taking control of the call centre ----- god, that was a mess

g) Radhika's Mom - In the novel the character has got reason to act in an indifferent manner but in the movie her characterisation is so poor. She resemble a drama actress ---

Well I can write lots of negatives ---!

Altogether, not a must watch.
