When you walk out of the jazzed up, pretentious climes of Crossroads,where things are 5 times their original price and .05 times their utility, Heera panna comes as a breath of fresh air!
When I walk into crossroads, I am hit by the entire consumerist range of wannabe ideals, fat women walking around with cranky kids who'd rather be breathing fresh air at Mahim creek, than their mothers stinky armpits, ''cool'' dudes hanging around trying to be noticed....yuck! the Heera panna shopping experience is something else.Firstly, it puts you amazingly at ease. It is a bazaar metaphor, rather than a crappy mall, something thats has been slapped onto us by the original culture exporters themselves, lapped up by a dumb audience.
Just the hepness of the crossroad experience is a turn off.Everything in its place, a shiny packaged PLASTIC environment.The Heera panna experience is it! an organised mess! like our lives! u make intelligent shopping decisions there because of the inherant risk.You interact with the shopkeeper as you haggle your way out of tight deals. A place that survives on the co-operation of its parts to form a coherant whole.A place where peope direct you to the next shop if they dont have EXACTLY what you're looking for. Have you ever spoken or felt like speaking to the plastic sales people at Crossroads? YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!
This is the truly indigenous way to shop people! keep it alive!!! buying hep foreign products (whos relevance we will not discuss) in a completely traditional way. It is seriously the best place to go. quality deals, and more in keeping with our way of life! dont let the media tell you whats cool and whats not. Heera panna is the place to be.
