Some time back I was chilling in this hip and happening resto-bar with my BF(Best Friend, among other things), when in walked a bunch of dudes and dudettes.all lean mean bodies, strategically placed tattoos and ATTITUDE in caps. Well, needless to say, all heads turned, mine included and the Big Fella's mouth also dropped opened a bit. Guess the outcome. What could'nt be achieved by weeks of cajoling, bribing then downright insulting myself and him, was achieved in a single evening, and I'm not talking about whateva your dirty minds may think:-p I'm talking about hitting the gym.

Well, hit the gym we did and was I ever grateful to those guys and their babes. So here are things I wanna share at no extra cost:-) BTW, the category may not be so fitting, but there's no category for' Generally trying our Best to look good', so I posted here. Hope its not too bad.

EXERCISING- a survey by a sports magazine said that people who invest in gyms save a great deal in medical expenses like hospital costs because they're generally in good health. When you exercise for losing weight, your body functions better overall. Then there are bonuses like better skin and flushed out toxins. For weight loss, cardio is as important as weight lifting. The first thing you burn is alcohol, then sugar, then carbs and THEN fat. Eliminate the first two and cut down on the carbs, then the magic begins. You also may put on excess weight due to certain medications, especially the ones containing steroids.Women on hormones cannot escape the weight trap, and women with PCODs WILL put on weight easily and find it hard to lose, but don't give up. Exercise is great for regulating the hormone system .

I see a lot of guys huffing and puffing on the ab machines all day.SRK & co. have insured that every man, woman and child want 6 packs. The thing is.who's gonna see them? I don't see any office going men walking out shirtless to work except Salman of course. Salman's work requires him to take off his shirt, y'see. For the rest of the guys, easy does it. In fact, not even the guys in the gym take off their singlets. Nor do the guys at the clubs or hang- out joints go shirtless/topless.And all their wives and girlfriends love them even without 6 packs. So all that work for the bathroom mirror? Narcissus would be proud.

I'd say concentrate more on the upper body that shows in shirts and tees. Abs should be in check. While working out take a break of max 60 seconds between sets. Rest between workouts so your body has time to mend the tears in the tissue and build muscle. Protein shakes, proteins, eggs, milk, fish, carbs help.

ANTIOXIDANTS- lemon heads the list, all berries, especially the dark coloured ones, vividly coloured veggies like yellow/red bell peppers, broccoli, all greens. Get in the habit of downing a glass of hot water with juice of half a lemon as granny said. She was right, it cleanses your stomach and thats a first requirement for glowing skin. Guys, I'm talking to you too, a good friend of mine swears by his morning glass .of lemon. Plus lemon cuts fat, so those layers melt away eventually . BUT- this tip is not for people with acidity problems, they'll do better without the added acidity. Also, a good brekkie is imp so you don't feel too hungry later in the day, when you really pile up the kilos.

FREE RADICALS-sounds like a naxal group. These harm our bodies the most, I believe they bind themselves to healthy cells and imprison them then shoot them or something. If you're not happy with my demented explanation, go read up on them. These are found mostly in re-used oil, burnt food, car fumes, pollution and cigarettes, and stress .

VITAMINS-Zinc helps with stretch marks, either take a multi or have it in sea food.Oysters are a fun way to get your fix of zinc, as are shrimps and most shell fish. Vit C is required for collagen building so you look 25 even when you're 40. It is possible with a little help from good genes.Vit D is sourced from the sun, milk and eggs. For more vitamin info, look up the internet.

WATER- contrary to what people keep saying, anything more than 2 litres puts a strain on the kidneys, doctors agree on this. Juices are okay but know that you'll be losing fibre.I prefer to eat my fruits. There's enough in the looking good series to fill volumes, but you gotta stop somewhere for brevity's sake.

Lifestyle alterations work wonders if you have the discipline to follow them through. If I make a small mistake, I no longer cry over it, I let it go. Try to keep on track as much as you can, occassional slips are not forbidden. After all even the dudes and dudettes were gorging on chocolate sundaes.
