One of the highly acclaimed movie of 2005 is 'Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi'. Its success can be assessed from the fact that in spite of being an offbeat movie it got the nominations n awards in many categories for almost all popular awards.
Though this movie is not a box-office hit, as this type of movies are not ment for that. They shows the realities and spread a message.

What is it about?

Its about the youth, their desires, the role they can play in the society.
It depicts the scenario of indian society around late 60's & early 70's. The time when we were free from the foreign rule but were tied with the chains of casteism, illiteracy, ignorance.....
It is a story abt three college friends, Siddharth(Kay kay) who despite being a son of powerful n rich person has his own ideologies, he has a spark in himself to do something for the upliftment of the backwards.., His lady love Geeta(Chitragandha) ... & their friend Vikram(Shiney) who wants to rise from his middle class status & wants to be rich & powerful. He also loves Geeta.
To pursue his ideologies, Siddharth moves away from Geeta for few months to work for people in remote village of bhojpur. Meanwhile Geeta went to study abroad & got married to an IAS officer and Vikram establishes his status in society as a fixer. Geeta's love for siddharth didn't get away... he is in regular touch with him...n finally at one moment walks off her marriage to join siddharth in his work. Vikram still loves Geeta a lot...& follows her n siddharth ..... Rest of the movie, shows Geeta's n Siddharth's struggle for betterment of people, vikram's transformation into a living dead man while following his love....
What I like most about the film?

- Showcasing of Mindset of youth:
The difference in mindset of youth of any particular generation is very well shown in the movie. Here one wants to nourish his ideologies & work upon them...other is list interest in this stuff & just wants to acquire power & money.
- Expression of True Love:
Its explains that the meaning of true love is not in receiving it back but is in giving. Though Vikram always knew Geeta is inseparable from siddharth, he always stood by them just occasionally loosing temper but never tried to hurt them.
3. Thought Provoking Message:
Blaming and cursing the situations around costs us nothing, but what matters is what we do to help in eliminating the bad thing from our society...
- Powerful acting:
Chitragandha Singh is a natural indian beauty who looks stunning along with acting superbly.
Kay Kay Menon is no doubt a very fine actor.
Shiney Ahuja is the new promising actor who has left a mark with his brilliant acting.
- Music :
Songs of this movie are also very good specially..'Banwra mann....'
Overall a nice movie....worth watching .... but for those who thinks movies as more than an entertaining thing...
