Thank God! It’s Sunday

Almighty has given some sense to the human being. That’s the reason someone included Sunday in the calendar and we have one Sunday every week, 52 in a year and too many in our life span. God is kind enough to give me spare time on most of Sundays and some money to spare for decent enjoyment.

Do I sound emotional?

Not really but it is better to be thankful to Almighty who has done so much for all of us.

In some countries, wine is part of religion and culture. However, it do not enjoy the same status in our country or culture except in small pockets and most of these pockets are considered as backward areas. May be because of that wine making has not developed in our country. Making of Sura is centuries old practice in India and may be much older than that of Scotland or any part of Europe. But unfortunately due to lack of interest and research, no big scale development has taken place. As a result, most of us depend on foreign liquors. Beer is one such delight, at least to me.

I prefer mild beer but occasionally for a change go for higher strength. There is no charm if strength is very high like that of knock out category drinks. Haywards 2000 is one of the Indian beers with moderately high strength and I like it.

It is available in 650 ml brown bottle. Strength is above 8.750 Proof (5.5% volume by volume). Price Rs. 39/- MRP.

Not dark and taste like that of a normal beer, not very bitter. May be consuming 3-4 times in a year but taste same all the time. Of course, I do not get that unique taste of KF Premium.

Haywards 2000 marketed by Shaw Wallace and manufactured by SKOL Breweries. Shaw Wallace is a very reputed name in this country especially for alcoholic beverages. I have no idea of market share of Hayward 2000 but must be a leading brand in this category.

Anyone who is fond of drink always looks for good bite and something different is always preferred. I prefer not too oily stuff because that kind of stuff may cause acidity problem. You may try Seafood Salad. Recipe as follows -

• Boil prawns in water with little lemon and salt. Take out the prawns and keep it separately. Boil Vermicelli and may add little vinegar to suit your taste. Take out the vermicelli, spread on a suitable dish preferably a big one, and add boiled prawns.

  
  




• Serving is most important. One should use expertise to taste it better. My friends like to have it with very hot chili – those terrible red chilies. I prefer to have with paste of coriander leaf and mild green chilies. Let me know if you have discovered any other better combination.

  
  

Mehefil is never Rangeen without few good jokes. Let me share one -

A drunken Sardarji boarded a double-decker bus, sat by the side of the driver Shinde, and started chatting to him. Shinde tried to avoid him. Not that easy to avoid a drunken Sardarji, unable to concentrate because of this added nuisance, advised him to go to upper deck to have a pleasant journey. Sardarji liked the idea and went to the upper deck.

Sardarji came back after few minutes and sat near the driver and started once again - chatting. That exhausted Driver asked him the reason for coming back from the upper deck. Sardarji said –

Brother, upper deck is moving without a driver. Its crazy, I cannot take risk of my life.

After couple of minutes, bus stopped due to red traffic light and fed up Shinde said,

Bhai Sab, this is your stop, are you getting down? Obliged Sardarji got down.

‘You said 'drinking is....Hazardous..’ True. But not so true...Drinking in moderation, maybe once a week or fortnight will do you NO harm. Drinking daily, and that too BEER is definitely bad for the Heart. Don’t ever let the Beer push out your paunch more than your chest level. That’s the secret of Safe Limit. I am not joking !’
