It hasn?t been long since I started using the futura pressure cooker for my cooking needs. Initially, though I always had this cute looking sophistication in my wish list, I was a little reluctant after reading the reviews about it. (I was never a great fan of rice overcooked to make soup). But finally I made up my mind to go ahead and purchase it, again just out of those smashing looks, I must confess.
Finally, when the black beauty made it to my kitchen, for once I felt so proud to be owning such a masterpiece. It was put into action the same day as it arrived. As always, cooking rice was the primary function of the pressure cookers in my kitchen. All went on fine till the time the cooker started giving the signs of a pressure release. I waited and waited for the whistle, but it never whistled. Frustrated, I turned off the flame, released some pressure worrying that I had overcooked my rice.
But the next time I didn?t take the risk, I put the flame off soon after it started giving away some steam and this time the cooking was perfect! I jumped with joy and tried other things like green peas and dhal, all got cooked and took much lesser time that the pressure cooker I had used earlier.
But I am not confident enough to say it will never overcook because at my mother?s, it takes only 2 whistles to cook unsoaked green peas in normal pressure cooker where as it was 20 to 30 for me. I guess it?s the hard water that makes all the difference. I use hard water coz that?s the only thing available where as mom get fresh and pure water for cooking. I had always wondered how it would be like if I cooked the same thing for the same time in the same cooker, but with water from my mom?s kitchen. (one day I must try it)
Otherwise the product is going just as I wanted it to be and is really helping me save a lot of fuel. The price, certainly, is a lot higher that an ordinary cooker, but the elegance it holds really makes me say wowww http://www.
