THESE DOGS ARE NOT PETS!

DOGS come in many shapes, sizes and from many Countries around the World. I don't like vicious dogs such as Pit Bulls, Damnations or German Sheppard's. I also don't like yappy dogs like the Mexican Chiwawa dog. I do like the Portuguese water dog, (this dog is the new'favorite' one to have in Canada), the Chinese Shar-Pei, any Terrier and the Belgium Sheep Dog.

I WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT 4 DOGS:

1) The SEEING EYE DOG helps blind people keep their independence and dignity. We all have the same needs in life and a person who is blind or nearly blind deserves the same things as we do.

The best dogs for train are the Labrador Retriever, Golden Retrievers, the German Sheppard or a mixture of these three breads. These dogs are not trained when they are puppies but must wait until they are adult dogs.

Dogs can be Seeing Eye Dogs if they go to school and have the right training. They assist a blind person both in their home and on the streets. These dogs are truly a Man, (Child or Women), best friend. It takes about eight weeks to train a dog to be of assistance to their owner. They learn to avoid distraction such as other dogs, noises or other people.

I often wondered why on our main Streets there is a bell that rings when the light changes. I know that the bell is there for blind people who don't have dogs and use white canes to tell'us' they are blind. I was amazed to find out the bells help the dogs as well because all dogs are colorblind.

The average working dog is from 8 to 10 years and now people are training small ponies and cats to help the blind because they live longer.

Blind People do not pay for their dogs so every year I donate money to the Blind Person Association in our City. I hope you put aside some money to help the blind.

2) There are now dogs who have been trained to assist the people who are hearing-impaired.

Dog can hear things much farther away than we do because they hear sounds that'waves that vibrate at frequencies of more than 30, 000 times a second'. Their sense of smell is better than humans and their sense of people is as well, (beware of a person a dog doesn't like!),

The best type of dogs for training is the same as the ones for the blind.

These dogs help tell their owner when a phone or doorbell is ringing or a pot is burning on the stove.

People who are hearing impaired don't pay for their dogs so I always donate a bit of money to the Hearing-Impaired Society in our City.

3) There are dogs being trained to assist people with sever disabilities such as cerebral palsy. The best dogs for training are the same ones as for the hearing and blind.

People who are wheel chair bound can speak. These dogs are taught the name of objects and will blind them to the disabled person in they are asked to do so. They play with the person and are often the only friend the person has.

Many Families can afford to pay for these dogs but many more can't because of all of the expenses entailed with the care giving of a person who is either in bed or a wheel chair every day.

I set aside some money to give to the Cerebral Palsy Association.

4) A few days ago my Husband brought to my attention a new type of dog that is being trained. Some Doctors are using these dogs to sniff at the crotch of their Male Patients. These Doctors swear that the dog can tell them if their Patient has Prostrate Cancer.

I suggest if your Doctor brings a dog into the room when you are at his office for a check up that you put on your pants and run like a'bat our of hell' and find a new Doctor!

I don't need to tell you that I do not donate any money to the'Smell The Crotch Foundation'.

ONE THOUGHT?

Why does my face look like an English Bull Dog?
