I subscribed to Hathway Broadband for an annual 256kbps unlimited download plan back in April 2009.Back then I assumed it was the best plan for internet available. It didn't occur to me how naive I was till I had used their services for a month.Firstly the regular loss of connection, especially around Sundays.I convinced myself that these connection losses were temporary. But I was clearly mistaken. For weeks it continued. The customer care people assured me it was a "temporary loss of connection".But the "temporary loss of connection" was regularly occuring on every other Sunday for at least 5 hrs. These problems were somethin I was ready to overlook as I was still getting a good download speed for the rest of the week. But no, the big shots of Hathway weren't happy with their customers being happy.
They brought in the Fair Usage policy to effectively drop a hammer on their own foot. They said that under the aforementioned policy customers should only download limited amount of data.If they downloaded more than that, the speed will be downgraded for the rest of the month. If anybody wants to browse at the speed for which they paid in advance, they will have to pay up the entire month's rent again only to get the same limit.Even after paying extra if you cross the limit again then boom, your speed is downgraded once again.
I have lost my patience with their crass policy and since I had taken an annual policy I have to suffer. But I urge the others to think carefully when you are thinking of taking a hathway connection. Please, please, please don't jump into the firepit.Don't take hathway connection.I am also urging my fellow hathway victims to not renew their subscription, hathway company is a bunch of cons and thieves. They probably deserve to be locked up in Jail for misleading its customers and commiting fraud but I am no lawyer. If anyone feels the same please feel free to join me in the Hathway Broadband Haters group on facebook.Comments are appreciated.
