Quickie conjures many things ! For many reasons Quickie can be compared with the varied instances of the word "F*ck" !
What a quickie from Adam Gilchrist scoring 45 in just 29 balls !
It was a quickie, I rolled some cheese, veggies and voila, the sandwich was ready.
Going thru the online rail-ticket booking was a quickie.
We had a quickie on kitchen table this morning and then departed for individual work.So in short, a quickie sums up any act done in short span of time often resulting in pleasure. Now talk of this new movie called Hat-Trick...Its a quickie.
In Adam Gilchrist style it shows you more things to cheer in quick time..i.e. it gives us not one but three stories interwoven nicely around cricket. In sandwich quickie terms, its a mix of cricket lovers, cricket haters present in shapes of a married couple, a hassled doctor and his bed-ridden kidney patient plus one confused gujjubhay in London. The movie revolves around these characters at the backdrop of cricket.
Moving out from Lagaan, we have a "metro" movie on cricket..Hattrick...directed by some milan luthria and produced by UTV.If Lagaan was a story disappeared from the history's pages, Hat-trick is a movie about few people that we see everywhere where common thread is cricket. Its about the guys whose life is affected positively / negatively by the cricket happenings. The first story revolves around apna sadda banda from RDB (some kapoor) and Rimi Sen.
Cricket is at the backdrop of everything in their life as shown in the movie, right from the moment they meet, their marriage, suhag raat, fights, divorce plans and sweet end. The kapoor guy acts and looks passable whereas Rimi Sen looks enticing ! The punjabi touch to this whole story is funny...For the first time in Indian movies punjabis are shown without sarson ka khet and mitti ki khushaboo...
Now we come to Munnabhai MBBS ka Part II where everything circles around a Nana Patekarish Doctor and a cheerful ex-cricketer depicted by Danny. Again at the backdrop of cricket, the doctor is transformed into a better human being....As I call it A quickie Munnabhai MBBS ... It was good to see Nana and Danny after long time..The third story is about certain Hemu Patel who works as a cleaner as London Airport and wishes to obtain Brit citizenship and return to india ! He is shown to be confusing fellow leaving a confused audience about this part of the story....Paresh Rawal acts in his usual style, but wasted !
Now if wondering about similarity between online rail ticket booking and Hat-Trick...well...the theatre was empty and had no problem in getting the tickets for the seat that I wanted...So this movie is recommended to all who want love / hate cricket and want to have a 2 hour quickie hindi movie..have a go at it...u will not curse me ! and as far as a quickie on kitchen table remains unanswered, I suppose doing is believing !
