Rowling had a vision in mind when she started off her Harry Potter series of tying a magical land in the world of children providing a roller coaster of the basic human emotions of love, hatred, fear and drama. While all other movies in the series remained faithful to the book and were successful in portraying the plot and the emotions effectively, HAB has drifted into nothingness.
HAB and Deathly Hallows are complex plots. The subject matter is sinister and emotions dark. Weaving the plot through teenage hormones is tough and while the book mastered it, watching the movie left me feeling like watching a silly chick flick. The movie spends too much time on the love lives of the principal characters rather than the main theme. The story and mystery of HAB is given at best a passing reference and horcruxes are something that seems to have been added as an after thought. I thought this was a pretty lame build up to the final movie.
The cast has done justice. They have portrayed all the teen emotions very effectively and everyone looks pretty and all that. But again the movie has not done justice to Harry's friends and their role in the plot. They have been reduced to someone whoe happen to be there. Certain instances such as the Death Eaters destroying the house of the Weasley's is thrown in out of the blue and doesn't fit in with the plot.
Technically the movie is great but a poor job of scripting has spoilt everything. I know that those into HP will go and see it and they should but dont expect the same emotional surge. Those who haven't read the book, better take lessons before you watch the movie:-)
