It all ends 7.15..

This is what the movie poster said and echoed, and true to its word you need to watch the film in order to savor the full taste of it.

The final sequel of the series really captivates its watchers to the extreme. It is a full package to say the least. You have thrills, chills, emotion and hard rock magic flowing all around you in a 3D environment. Come to think of it,the mere words “Harry Potter” can elicit emotional reactions specific to the characters and the series, and help recall experiences that we’ve shared with the story over the years.

The final part marks the emotional climax of an era and is laden with almost insurmountable expectations. Therefore the big question, does Deathly Hallows Part 2 live up to the hype? I am happy to say it does and performs even better beyond expectations.

The wait is finally over:

I caught the flick first day first show like many others. Multiplexes were showcasing houseful thereby depicting the true love and passion for the final Harry Potter flick from the Indian fans. Cheers. Yeah, it was a marvelous experience to be a part of history. The audience was bubbling with energy and there were wide round of applauses that came in short notices as the film proceeded.

Plot:

Coming back to the film, the second part of Deathly Hallows kicked off with the ending trailer of the first part where Lord Voldemort had acquired the mighty wand of Albus Dumbeldore from the latter’s grave. The screen quickly shuffled to Harry Potter mourning against Dobby’s grave. This part was really touchy. The film takes a steady, methodical, even stoic approach to say at the beginning. This is synonymous to a situation where we are dropped back into the world where we are fully aware this is the calm before the storm. You can actually feel the emotions flowing around throughout the movie as the audience made wide gasps in between.

One spectacular – albeit semi-rushed – action scene later, the story finally returns to Hogwarts. Get ready for some serious action from Neville Longbottom. One thing that everybody will look out for is the revelation of the Severus Snape in the final sequel and it had been implemented in the movie in a wonderful manner. I wont disclose the sequel any further, will stick to the generic view instead.

Direction:

Director David Yates evokes the sense of nostalgia throughout the film in an attempt to raise the stakes by reminding us that the whole world – not just Harry, Ron and Hermione – is affected by this hunt for Horcruxes. In a way, he bundles the audience in rapt attention. From there, Deathly Hallows Part 2 is basically an action-packed, physically-draining sprint towards the inevitable finish line. When it does take the rare, extremely important detour, adrenaline is replaced by heartache.

Final Verdict:

Finally, when the foot comes off the gas pedal and you can find yourself decelerating, we know the end is near, that’s when Deathly Hallows Part 2 really shines. This is an important film in many ways and as an audience member I felt it quite towards the end though ;).

The emotions are layered on thick, and while it fades to black, this film is obviously reaching for that level of Oscar-winning gravitas. If you ask me it does not completely succeed, but it does enough to be extremely gratifying.

Whether you’ve been a fan of the books and movies for years, or only know Potter’s story from the silver screen, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 doesn’t disappoint. Non-fans might find it strange at times, but who cares? They shouldn’t have come to a final sequel at the first place. This movie is the close-enough-to-perfect icing on top of a franchise that will be remembered for years to come. It has an everlasting effect on the Potter fans across the world. It’s ripe, beautiful, and you’ll be sad – but satisfied – when you’re done with it. To call back to what Harry said, this series is bound to finish just the way it started - with heart, nerve and just a touch of magic! Even I have to end this review with a heavy heart.

P.S.

The best part of Yates which I liked is “to post-convertHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2into 3D”. The effect is unnecessary to say the least, but rewarding and cool nonetheless. Pick your poison.
