HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, a much-awaited movie finally released on June 4th. I was lucky enough to get tickets for the first day, first show. Everywhere I turned there were kids of my age. It was funny. I really didn’t know that there were SO MANY Harry Potter fans in the city.

The movie was really good. The new director Alphonso Cuaron has made the third movie much darker and scarier than the first two. The movie is far spookier than I expected it to be. When I first read in the papers that Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was too scary for very young children I thought that everyone was over-reacting. While watching the movie I actually found my fingers tightening around my friend’s arm. It WAS spooky.

The dementors- foul, soul-sucking creatures were exactly like I thought they would be. Maybe it was my imagination but I felt cold whenever the dementors appeared on the screen. Towards the end when Professor Lupin turned into werewolf I was quite scared. The stag, Harry’s patronous which saved him and Sirius from the dementors in the Forbidden Forest was beautiful. I can’t find another word to describe it. Buckbeak, the Hippogriff was absolutely adorable. Another thing I loved was the Knight Bus. Honeydukes, the sweet shop in Hogsmeade was filled with chocolate and candy and gum from ceiling to floor. I wish there was a branch of Honeydukes in Hyderabad. The Firebolt was also really nice.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have all done a wonderful job on the movie. 16-year old Tom Felton or Draco Malfoy has a new hairstyle and is almost unrecognizable. Even though the movie was supposed to be dark and mysterious, we couldn’t see very clearly what was happening. But I am sure of one thing. Every lid who has read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban would love to watch the movie. And lots of parents, if they are like mine wold love to see it too.
