Haridwar is considered as one of the holy places of India from ancient time. My first visit to Haridwar was one year ago with my family. Haridwar is well connected with Road, rail, and air throughout the country. by Road, the nearest city and state capital Dehradun is 59 km from Haridwar, Delhi, the capital of India is 212 Km from Haridwar. Dozens of bus services are available to reach Haridwar from all over the country.  By train, all major Railway Junctions are well connected with Haridwar, there are plenty of Trains to connect with Haridwar. By Air, Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest Airport. Haridwar is accessible through out the year but from March to June the weather getting too hot. I suggest visiting Haridwar from October to December. From Haridwar bus stand and railway station plenty of buses, cabs, taxi, auto, SUV available transport.

Haridwar is considered as "DEV BHUMI" from ancient time. The main attraction and devotion in Haridwar are River Ganges. The holiest river of the world attracts thousand of devotee around the globe. When I first visited Haridwar I astonished to see the beauty of  Goddess Ganga. Haridwar is considered as the Temple city of India, there are numerous temples to visit. The must visit places of Haridwar are:

Har ki Pauri Ghat: Situated from just 2 km from Haridwar station is the most popular place of Haridwar. the ambiance of this place will surprise you. Thousands of devotee gather here to witness the famous "Aroti" of River Ganga. Putting Diya is another popular thing in Har Ki Pauri Ghat. It is to believe that if one takes bath in River Ganga he/ she will get free from the sins.

Mansa Devi Mandir: This temple is situated on the top of a hill near Haridwar. Rope way is available to reach the temple of Devi Mansa. This temple is also considered as the holy place among devotee.

Bharat Mata Mandir: this mandir is founded in 1983 dedicated to patriotic nationals of India. this is a seven-story building each floor consists of Hindu God and Goddess, Freedom Fighter of India, Saints of India etc. This is a must visit place in Haridwar.

Daksh Raja Mandir: Situated 8 km from city center, this mandir is my personal favorite because of its mythological story of Vagoban Shiv and his father-in-law Daksha. This temple is very famous, thousands of devotee come to visit this temple in the month of August.

Kankhal: Kankhal is a colony famous for one of the five pilgrimage of Haridwar. In Kankhal you will see Anandamoyee Ashram,  Patanjali Yoga Peeth etc.

The other places to visit are Chandi Devi Temple, Naba Ratna Temple, Jain Temple, Sati Kund Etc. Other than the tourist places Haridwar has one of the best markets of garments, religious items, and wearable accessories. the huge market is popular with its cheap cost. I personally suggest you take a taste of Haridwar famous Rabdi and milk.

From 20 Rupees to 10, 00 Rupees every type of accommodation is available in Haridwar. As per my opinion try to stay near Har-ki Pauri Ghat, because of its market and ambiance. Other than Ashram, the hotels are pretty good and the staffs and services are also very good. But remember one thing, in Haridwar Non-veg foods are not allowed and available. If you want to meditate yourself than, go to Har-ki-Pauri Ghat in evening and enjoy the beauty of River Goddess Ganga.

Haridwar is quite a safe place but beware of strangers. Try to avoid the mess with other people. Respect the culture and local people of Haridwar and they will respect you.
