We have seen Sachin Tendulkar destroy the Aussies with his explosive batting but for the first time we have seen a twenty year old destroy the mighty Aussies with his bowling and this achievement is made more special when it is known that this man had been accused of chucking, has earned an ill reputation of being a bad boy and thus being thrown out of the leading cricketing academy in India, that is, National Cricket Academy. Yes friends he is none other than Harbhajan Singh.
The way he bowled against the Aussies and tore their batting line-up was quite extraordinary. And this achievement was made more special after the following circumstances-
Firstly, after Anil Kumble pulled himself out of the series following his shoulder injury, the entire India was wondering that who would shoulder the responsibility and play a leading role in taking the 20 wickets in the Australian innings.
Secondly, after the onslaught by Hayden and Gilchrist in the first test, the entire bowling attack was changed for the second test and only Harbhajan was the surviving member of the bowling attack in Mumbai and after Slater hit Harbhajan for a six in the last over before lunch in the Calcutta test, it seemed that it was bye bye Harbhajan for a few years but as it turned out Harbhajan took 32 wickets out of the 50 Australian wickets to have fallen in that entire series including the first ever hat-trick by an Indian in the Calcutta test, that, enabled India to come back in the test.
And such was the affect of the performance of Harbhajan that the Australian media named him as, “the turbanator”.
So all in all it was quite an amazing performance by Harbhajan Singh and we hope that he could keep up his good work and win India more and more test matches.
