Is your hangover worth it?

Hi Friends.

Here is a short article on giving up drinking.

At the outset I must stress on the fact that I have nothing against drinking. Social drinking and moderate drinking, I believe, are healthy habits.

But if one overdoes it, alcohol can slowly destroy one's life. I believe it is far better not to drink at all than to binge drink and spoil your health.

I had long been a member of the DRINK HARD club - I could seemingly go on and on with the booze without passing out! (which some friends attributed to my powerful built - but I dont feel thats necessarily true)  But I slowly felt it causing a strain on my health and my close relationships. Even at work, I found myself coming in late more or taking leaves due to hangovers on more than one occasion.

A couple of months ago, I made a second attempt to stop drinking altogether. I must report that after 2 alcohol free months,  Im feeling great - I havent really gone through withdrawal or missed drinking too much. Im feeling more energetic and alive, and Im able to aproach things more rationally and calmly. Ive always excelled professionally - however, the last two months have been even better at work - though not deviod of stress(what with the Sensex taking a crazy nose dive and stuff!)

And yes -Ive started meditating regulary again and this I feel has been a key element in my stopping successfully. I really feel that youngsters should try and avoid alcohol altogether, and get more involved in sports, meditation and other fun activities such as movies, good cuisine etc. As the drinking age is plummeting day after day, I really think young people are not getting as much out of life as they should. There are countless reasons which one can rationalise and think of, to feed their drinking habit. However, my advice to those who binge drink regularly(i mean at leats once a week) would be to stop altogether, start working out, adopt a more positive attitude, and march ahead in life!

If you do choose to give it up - here are a few simple tips to staying quit -

#Meditate - read'Calm technique' by Paul Wilson

#Get involved in sports and fitness activities - preferably lift weights regularly

#Adopt a positive attitude

#Drink plenty of fluids

#Feel proud of being different - everyone drinks nowadays .!

#Drink Red Bull and dance away at parties!Come alive from within!

#? Fall in love? Thats a great high anyway:-)

#Find alternate ways to recreate and generally adopt a more healthful, active lifestyle

Cheers friends!
