I am a fan of Chetan Bhagat and his writings. I can still remember the urge to buy the book as soon as it gets released in the market. Chetan sir writes in a simple lucid language that can be easily understood by all the readers.
Story: The story is of a boy, Madhav Jha, who is from a non-English speaking background, and is also the prince of Dumraon, a so-called kingdom situated in rural Bihar.
No, being a prince, he is not very rich. His family has an inherited palace that is not maintained properly. He is royal, but limited to words.
He gets admission in DU through a quota, Sport's quota. Here he faalsin love with the most beautiful girl of the college, Riya Somani, in their first meet itself, So called "Love at first sight". Both Madhav and Riya played basketball. And later became'Basketball Friends'.

Now they started to spend some time together, umm a lot of time together to be exact. There were rumours about their link up in the whole college. Then Madhav attempted to kiss Riya once, but Riya does not like all these, hence she refuses.
then we see Riya kissing Madhav. Their relationship was still not clear but things were going well. Madhav's friends forced him to believe that Riya is using him and suggested him to be intimate with Riya. In the story we can see Madhav using cheap words.
This breaks Riya's soft corner that he had for Madhav andsoon she marries another person from a high class background, selected by her parents. That man ends up being an animal. Riya is forced to divorce him, though her parents never supported this decision.
Meanwhile Madhav was searching for funds for the school run by his mother in Dumraon. He was in Patna then, learning English so that he could convince Bill Gates, who was at that time coming to India for a tour of this kind(to give donations to encourage growth). There the two meet again.Their chemistry renewed its beauty. Madhav took Riya to his so called palace, where Madhav's mother highly disliked Riya.Riya started helping Madhav in his English speeches.
We find Riya leaving Madhav again, this time leaving a note behind stating she has some chronic illness and did not want Madhav to indulge more with her. She decided this after confirming that Madhav is going to get the donation.
Then Madhav finds Riya's diary from her apartment where Riya used to stay on rent and finds out that Riya lied to him about her illness.
Madhav goes to US to search her, because Riya's lifelong desire was to be a bar singer and settle in US. So Madhav ultimately finds Riya in US. They had kisses and a happy intimate life. They get married and have a cute kid.
The school in Dumraon also prospered. It has got a new basketball court. Happy Ending!
Verdict: The book is a good book but best for a one time read.;P
