Have been an owner of the HTC3300 for over a year now. A useful phone, it could definitely be better if the HTC guys get rid of the minuses. For one thing, the cell needs a soft reset every once in a while. Then there are hardly any third party applications which are available for free on the internet and the few that you can download make the intrument unstable and you end up uninstalling it.
The texting is convenient but it does not have the facility of group sms which one would have thought should have been standard feature. So, you end up selecting each of the contacts manually each time you wish to text a group of people together.
Most of the times I clicked on MapKing, it used to tell me that there was not enough RAM and to try again after some time. MapKing makes the phone very unstable and once I got rid of the software my phone works much faster and better although I now cannot use GPS. The interface of MapKing is also too complicated and I did not find a single decent user manual on the net on how to optimally use the same.
You cannot customise the main screen and although I would have liked Messaging to be on the main screen, I could not get it instead of the Calendar & Contacts that are there by default.
Active Sync which you use to sync your MS Outlook and the cell is also fraught with problems and after some time, the computer detects the phone when connected but does not sync it. I installed Active Sync on another computer and it sync-ed. So I not know when it is a problem with the computer and when it is a software problem.
Camera quality is so-so.Sms used to be infuriating as every time I sent one sms, I couldn't send another one immediately as the second one would invariably go into the outbox and remain there till kingdom come till I soft reset my phone. Once soft reset, the sms would go!
I got rid of this sms problem by hard resetting my phone.Like every self-respecting windows OS, every once in a while the phone hangs, and sometimes it is very embarassing when your friends or colleagues are trying to contact you and keep hearing the message that your phone is out-of-reach! Then when you are contacted on another phone and conveyed this, you have to soft reset your phone to get it working again.
The phone has a lot of pluses too but I am writing this to bring out the deficiencies which the company would do well to overcome to make it a great product.
