After using Nokia 6030 for almost 4 years I was in search of a high-end phone. I had already made up my mind with HTC Touch diamond, because of some good reviews about the product. But after hearing HTC won’t be supporting diamond because they launched diamond 2. So I bought HTC Touch 3G which is also a PDA phone like any other HTC phones. So here we go with some details of the phone,
Looks:The looks very well compliment the type of phone it is. It’s slim, light weight, stylish, trendy still very much business phone. It’s available in only black color.
User Friendliness:It comes with Windows 6.1 operating system. Windows is known for its user friendliness and they have delivered the same for this one also.
Input Methods:HTC has also provided alternate touch screen input methods than a QWERTY keyboard.If you are used to a cell phone style keyboard you can use that. Also it comes with a transcriber which recognizes the handwriting. This is one of the coolest feature of the phone.
Touch Flow:The basic thing one looks in a touch screen phone is the response time it takes for an operation. HTC has come up with touch flow technology which responds very well with any type of application. And you can navigate through the menus with the swipe of your fingers.
Memory:It comes up with internal 192 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM which is not so promising as per the type of phone. But it can be expanded up to 16 GB. Currently I am running it with 4 GB micro SD card and working perfectly fine without any delay in response.
Camera:This is the one section in which this phone fails miserably. It comes with 3.2 mega pixel camera which is not really worth. The image quality is very poor and image stabilizer which is available in most of the camera phones is missing. Also it doesn’t have a flash which makes you handicap while clicking at night.
Music:Supports MP3 as an audio format and mp4 as video format. It comes with windows media player and audio manager which are music players. The external speakers are loud enough and clear. The stereo headphones are worth note it gives the best music experience.
FM Radio:Another bad news no FM radio is supported with this phone. But the media player might just fulfill your music hunger. But If you are a FM lover, don’t go for this phone.
Battery Backup:They claim its standby time is up to 450 hours and talk time is up to 6.5 hours. But in my opinion the battery backup is in sufficient and requires charging every alternate day.
Business Features:Supports all the business features like word, PowerPoint, xl and adobe acrobat reader. Also it can be configured with the Microsoft exchange server for outlook configuration. It can be directly connected to any office computer; it will import all the contacts and can be made in sync with all the office contacts.
Connectivity:Provides USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS and 3G connectivity. In USB connectivity it can be operated in 3 modes. They sync mode in which you can sync your phone with computer, the Disk mode in which you can use transfer files from computer to storage drive of your phone and the modem mode so that you can use the phone as a modem when connected with computer.
Accessories: USB cable, stylus, screen guard, windows application CD.
So in a nutshell if you want to use it for business purpose like emails, outlook and MS office you should go for this phone. It will give the best user experience in that category. The music is also one of the best available for HTC phones. But if you are looking for a phone cum camera, don't go for it.
Right now I am enjoying this phone and I felt its value of money.
