I am a HSBC Gold Credit Card Victim. Initially when I started this card, I got a lot of attention and the customer service was good. HSBC did not have many offers like Citi or ICICI and I was happy with them.
But then as all good things, my image about HSBC had to come to an end. To do my part in contributing to the enviornment, I decided to opt for an Online Statement or e-Statement rather than a paper statement in the post. I got my security code device and I started logging online for my statements.
First I did not get e-statements or alerts and my paper statements also did not come through. I logged on to my account but all I could I see was an option to choose for paper versus e-statement. So I called the customer care and they told me the option was not activated. I told him I did more than once, he apologized and ask me to do it again. So I activated it and I was told I will be sent a paper statement that month. I did not recieve anything.
A couple of months later I started getting e-statements and I realized that I was not very comfortable reading my statement online and I felt the paper statement ws comparatively less confusing. So now I called up the Customer Care and requested them to switch to paper since I was not able to decipher the e-statement properly. The representative(a male) told me that this will be done. Again nothing. A month passes and NO paper statement. Meanwhile I am paying my Installments regularly.
I called them again and this time a female rep told me that they could not do that and I had to go online to make the switch. Why was I not told earlier about this? No answer. So I go online to make the switch. I was told I will start getting my paper statements.till date I got ONE. If I refuse to pay them.they fine me. I WANT TO SEE WHAT I AM BEING CHARGED FOR. And all I get is stupid excuses.
UPDATE: 30th August: Now another rep from the Customer Service tells me that I now have to WRITE A LETTER to HSBC requesting to send paper statements and put it in the ATM drop-box. Can you believe this? NOT ONE ANSWER matches the next.
