The Beginning: After using company provided laptops for around 3 years, I decided to have my own. The End: I am a'proud' owner of HP Pavilion zv6000, after around 16 months of usage the hinges gave away and now the laptop needs a'back-rest' without which it cannot stay upright. I had taken the laptop to the HP service center in Bangalore, Indiranagar and the service engineer told me that they would need to replace the entire frame and display and hence it would cost around Rs. 25000! He also gave me the number of some service engineer in Banaswadi who'might' be able to help me out.
I have got in touch with couple of non-authorized service engineers who claim they need to'try'(experiment?) out some hinges before they could confirm they could get it right. I am surprised that the HP service center does not have the related spares. I also sent an email to support/complaints @HP and have not received any response. No wonder most of the reviews on HP Pavilion zv6000 mention that it is a good replacement for a desktop!
