My friend bought the latest HP Pavillion dv 2414, after about 8 months of functionally reasonably well, suddenly one fine morning the LCD Display had a crack. Knowing my friend who is meticulous with his care of his laptop, I was quite surprised. We took it to the HP centre and explained the case to them.

The service engineer simply said it is not covered under warranty and refused to give any explanation. He simply kept repeating it was due to physical damage and since warranty does not cover physical damage, this will be charged. My friend showed him the entire laptop to inspect for any signs of physical damage, there was none. He tried explaining to him that it could not have been due to physical damage since there was none, however the service engineer and his supervisor turned a deaf ear and kept repeating that this was the first case they have come across. He also said this would be chargeable and they gave a quote for Rs. 35, 772.

Frustrated with the brash attitude, he almost decided to go in for a new one and this time swore that it would be any other brand but not the Untrustworthy HP. Incidentally when he was browsing for similar incidents, there were many posts on the poor quality of service of HP and how their laptops are shipped with manufacturing defects and the deplorable quality of service at HP.  He also found an article on the same problem as his being reported(by HPs channel partners who acknowledge the poor quality of HP laptops). https://itvarnews.net/news/journal_comments.asp?JournalID=4493

I am planning to write to more IT journals and newspapers so that other customers who trust HP know the truth before they choose HP!

So beware of HP and tell your friends and colleagues!
