I thought HP to be very good company but I have burnt my fingers many times. HP is a cheat company and they have cheated evryone as they provide free cartridges and toners but beware  they are introductory ones having no print life and therafter they say to buy new one. In this competitive world I found Canon to be a honest company and strongly recomend to buy it. Stop buying fraud company's products. I have been cheated by HP and this is a warning to all to not to get cheated. Their staff talk as if they are GODS as in India every one is buying HP for strong presence. Detailed cheating by HP is available below.

This is in reference towards my complaint of Hp Printer All-in-One 6500 wireless bearing Serial No. SMY966110D4

Purchase Details:

Date of Purchase- 28th December 2009

Invoice No.- HG 1052

Dealer Name- Computer House, A-3/5 Vijay Khand Extention, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow

The Problem:

  1. The printer consumes ink every time it is switched on.

  2. The cartridges provided alongwith the printer got consumed within 5 - 8 prints of A-4 size.

  3. The cartridges has sprayed the ink inside the cartridge compartment.

The printer cartridges (supplies along with the printer) got consume within 5-8 (A-4) print outs. Every time when the printer was switched on the ink was substantially consumed during the initialization process of the printer. Suddenly one day when the ink level was displayed were half-full and I needed to print a document in black & white the printer was switched on and thereafter during the initialization process the cartridges became blank. Thereafter I opened the printer to look into the cartridge compartment and to my astonish I saw the ink being spray and splashed inside the printer which is evident from the ink marks on the rear side of the cartridge compartment.

My Effort:

I called the support center on 30 August 2010 and the call was handled by Ms. Ankita and she was very courteous and helpful. After the online support steps she told me that I require a service engineer to fix the problem and if the cartridges have become empty due to printer problem then the cartridges shall be replaced under warranty. She gave me the Case No. 3104520 and Reference No.- 8042163164.

The service engineer from Redington India ltd. visited my place the very same day in the evening at around 7 P.M. The gentlemen saw the printer and he simply said that your cartridges are empty and there is no problem in your printer. I asked him to take out the printer usage report and that will reveal the story that as to how the cartridges became empty even without using them and to also explain the ink being sprayed on the body of the cartridge compartment. He said that the ink cartridges supplied with the printer are an eye wash and nothing to do with the number of print outs. He also could not explained the ink marks within the printer cartridge compartment. He told that the company does not provide the test cartridges and therefore he cannot print the test page and for that he told me to buy cartridges first and then only the page can be printed. I reiterated to explain the ink spillage inside printer cartridge compartment; he kept mum. Upon asking him that who would take the responsibility of the new printer cartridges that I buy if the same happens to those cartridges. For this he replied that it is your luck. I told him that I shall not sign his report unless there is a redressal to my problem.

On 1st September 2010, I again called up the on-line support and was attended by Ms. Anu who was neither courteous nor eager to help and not even ready to understand my problem. She said that the report of the Service Engineer of the Redington was 100% reliable and you buy the cartridges. She also told me to that the cartridges those are supplied along with the printer are only to print test pages and to initialise the printer and not more than that. I asked her the same question as to who would stand the guarantee of the new cartridges if the same problem reoccurs. She said that the HP shall hold the responsibility. Then I asked her to provide such a responsibilty in writing, to which she said that her words were enough for such a responsibility. It seems everyone is shying away from their duties and responsibilities.

On one hand all of your people to whom I have interacted so far say, that the printer does not consume any ink while switching ON and on the other side they are unable to explain the ink that has been consumed in my printer without printing.

My Un-Answered Questions:

Does the printer consume inks every time if it switched on?

Do we need to put all the four cartridges to take out a black and white print?

Does not HP provide test ink cartridges to their service centers?

What is the reason of ink spillage inside the cartridge compartment? Is it a normal phenomena?

Is the report/version of the Service Engineer (that too of a third party) final and the customer becomes opportunityless?

Are there no supervisors or managers above the third party engineers to look upon such situations?

Is writing e-mail the only solution to contact HP service authorities?

My Views:

  1. HP is a careless after sales service provider.

  2. HP must put their own officers in the front to meet out such a situation.

  3. Blind faith on a third party for sefrvice is ruining HP's market image.

  4. The printing business that HP is doing in India is against Section 2(1)(nnn) and Sec. 2(1) (r) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986.

Conclusion:

Fighting out to get the service and that too only through emails is not a valid medium in India where still people are not internet savvy and also at at places it is unavailable. It is a cumbersome way to get service. I myself took one full day off from my daily schedule and could find time on my rest day to type out a request/complaint.

I shall not buy new cartridges till my problem is fixed as when you are not holding the guarantee of the originally supplied cartridges then definitely buying another expensive ink cartridges set shall be another trap for me.
