I bought a HP6208 MFD( Multi Function Device) for home use about 30 months back -costing Rs.12000/-. The machine was to take care of our normal requirement of printing, scanning, copying and fax tranmissions - for which it provided good servie/output quality. The equimepnt was purchased from the companys registered dealer in Delhi. Despite of low usage one of the hinge of the machine got broken. We contacted the HP authorised service center -informed him of the machine details over phone -took an appointment and carried the MFD to the service centre.
This was in June 2008. The centre informed us that since the parts were not available now it would take about a weeks time to get the parts from the co - we would inform you and do the neccessory repairs. Rs. 350/- as a advance service charge was collected by the centre and a receipt issued.
Its over three months now - we keep calling the centre to check the status of the parts but the parts are yet to reach.
A note to the CEO India appraising him of the problem have not even got a response till date. Yes we received one call from HP Gurgaon giving us 25% discount on the MRP if we buy a new machine - considering the fact that normally the street price of a machine could be more than 25% lower than the MRP-Is it not a funny proposition.
The warranty information on the booklet supplied confirms that the normal wear and tear in the machine will be taken care by the authorised service centres .Is this the way HP service centre works. Please think twice before you buy an equipment from HP - because when it comes to servicing they do not match their owns standard worldwide.
