Very Good Printer for small offices. Review on HP 1020 Plus Single Function Printer

HP 1020 Laser Printer is sturdy printer. I am self employed person and you know self employed persons prefer best performing things with economy operating cost. I bought this printer before 3 years i.e. Aug 2005 and till now print 10, 000 papers on the same. Printing quality is consistently good. You have to shuffle the pepers before setting into this printer otherwise two papers will get inserted in the printer. Spend some time "Shuffleing" the papers and this printer will give you excellent results.

You have to face a miracle while operating this printer in rainy season. First I was afraid when I saw white smoke comming out from this printer. I immediately gave a ring to my computer vendor, he said, "Nothing to worry about, just relax! When the moister will over the smoke stops automatically. Continue your work." Print Quality Lowred in rainy season until the printer will become hot. To make printer hot just print 10 pages continuously.

This printer save efforts. It automatically takes the paper, print it smoothly and keeps the paper at its in-built tray. Its in-built tray can carry more than 100 papers at a time. This automation is just very good, at economy price (Rs. 8, 400/- - Aug 2005).

When I am tired with Data Entry Job Work I feel the automation feature of the printer just ameazing. With my previous "HP Laser - Gold" printer I have to insert single paper at a time after tedious Data Entry Job Work. After 2 years this printer (HP 1020) is working as good as before - taking papers automatically and printing smoothly. In August 2008 I have gave this printer for servicing and spent Rs. 750/- for servicing. Now again this printer is working smoothly. Number of printouts completed in 3 years is 10, 000 (Aug 05 to Aug 08).

As per vendors it is ideal to use original cartiges otherwise printer-life will get reduced. But I have tried refilled cartige with this printer for once. I got same results with the refilled cartige. But you have to understood that the quality of refilled ink should also good. One of my friends know the person who refills the cartige therefore I was comfortable about ink quality. Take care while using refilling cartiges. If you are using refilled cartiges then service the printer yearly. There are many people who are servicing printer on job basis - at your home/office. You can ask your computer vendor about these people and he can tell you about the same.

Original cartiges are easily available at dealers of computer accessories. But it was unexpected that super-shops like "Croma" (a Tata Concern) do not keep these cartiges.

Sometimes ink (ink-powder) is get saturated in the cartige and quality of printing quality will get decreased. Then just pull-up the cartige out and carefully shuffle (move upwards and downwards for releasing the saturated ink-powder) it for improving print quality.

Sometimes you can not get good prints due to moisture. Then just print - say 10 pages and you can get expected quality. Use above mentioned remedy also (shuffling cartridge upwards and downwards).

This printer can print more than 150 pages at a stretch. This number may be bigger but as per my work requirements I need maximum 150 pages at a time.

When something happens wrong - say you gave print command while the printer is switched off - following is the easy way to make your printer work :

Just turn off computer and printer and re-start the same. Do  not use re-start button.

Don't insert cartige while printer is switched-on. Don't keep pins or other harmful material near printer. As the inside parts are made from plastic, it will get damaged from pin etc. if the pin droped inside the printer. Actually previous models of HP Laserjet Printers are more vulnerable for these type of accidents. In this model HP had kept the cover closed and therefore very few chances of these types of incidents.

Do not move the printer frequently. Due to moving its efficiency may get decreased. Frequent transit may cause harmful for inner parts due to bump / bang.

Keep your printer clean and just keep it under cotton cloth while it is switched-off. Cotton-cloth is the best cover for LCD monitors, printers etc.

Take care as per above while operating this printer and you can get excellent results.

You will cost only Rs. 1/- per page for printing.

AND

Frequently use your printer/computer otherwise it may show some problem.
