My policies recently lapsed because I did not pay my premium on the said date. I did not receive renewal premium notice and neither did my agent bother to remind me. She did remind me that the policy has lasped by a SMS immediately! I learnt a few things in this process




  1. HDFC SLIC will never admonish their agents since they are not paid employees of company




  2. I can not shift my policy to another agent becuase I received poor service ---IRDA rules




  3. It is a courtsey gesture that company will send renewal notices and it is my job to pay premiums on time---IRDA guidelines




  4. It does not matter what type of client I am i.e. a genuine defaulter v/s someone with a decent track record having multiple other policies with the same company




  5. I wrote even to the CEO, I spoke to customer service centre and surprisingly none bothered to reply.




  6. Customer service back office even promised me an explanation on a said date and time but never got back.




  7. The language used in reminder letter is very rude and offensive BUT who cares?




  8. Buying a new term insurance plan......do not even think about HDFC




  9. HDFC is well known for good products and great acumen in finding new innovative rpoducts and their charges are lowest in the field BUT have 4 th ranking overall...the reasons are there listed above




  10. All their agents have a log in id where they canview their client's policies and renewal dates etc. and are supposed to remind/collect the premiums. Mind you they get hefty comissions from our money and even jaunts abroad, so they HAVE to offer these services.






Morale: they will try and get you to buy an ULIP since they get hefty check but try and ask them for a term plan i.e. low commission and they will run away.


I used to think HDFC ka naam hai but they have very poor service and for any damn think they have a rule book to flash at you.


BUt who cares....bus buri service deo aur sar uthake chalo!
