The only thing good about them is claims settlement. I got an Auto claim but they have zero coordination between their two departments. My claim was settled and I had to pay about 15% from my pocket, as I did not read their fine prints like all other customers!


After 2 months of claim settlement, that is in October my insurance premium was due and every single freaking day I got 2-3 SMS from them saying, we can't reach you, please pay by going to this link. Every day I got these SMS and couldn't block them as they were not coming from any number but from HDFC Ergo! My premium due is on 31st December. My agent who does these running on my behalf came and gave me a letter from HDFC Ergo saying my premium is due and the amount is Rs 8k something. I gave them a check. But I told him, that wouldn't it be more as I had a claim this year, only 2 months back. He said that they have said no, premium amount is 8k. Then after 2 weeks of pestering my agent, who kept on going to their office daily, i came to know that my premium would be 12k, as there would be no NCB this time due to my claim. Fine, so I gave them a new cheque this time. Now hoping they would give me my letter, which I keep in my car. By this time, 31st December was long gone, I had to take my car out with no insurance document, although I had given two cheques, of which one was returned as the amount was different. Again after one week of reasonably shouting at my agent, and he swears that he is doing everything to get my insurance paper ready, he calls me up from HDFC Ergo office, saying that because of zero coordination between the premium and claims department of HDFC Ergo, they had no clue about my claim, hence he had to pay 750 Rupees cash as well to get my insurance sorted, finally. And he sends me a xerox copy of an insurance document to keep in my car.


The final original document came to my home on 28th January by courier(on which it is written contact number mandatory on proof of delivery)! Bloody HDFC Ergo, you want contact number as a proof of delivery, when you guys have pestered me for more than 1 month asking for a premium, you don't have coordination between your two departments! Salary of the CEO to every Tom, Dick and Harry sitting in the office of HDFC Ergo Insurance is paid by my money! It is I who pay a premium every year so that you get chicken on your table at home! Remember that, if you are reading this HDFC Ergo! I have instructed my agent to change my insurance from this year. Not giving them a chance this year. Absolutely rubbish company. Zero coordination among two departments of the same company. And just imagine, after paying my premium, I am getting the original document which I need to keep in my car after 1 month of payment! That too they want proof of delivery! My foot!
