I had fallen in to the trap of the smart dressed, sweet spoken and stylish 'executives' and signed for HDFC Credit Card five years back. The survey report and the acceptance letter of HDFC made me proud of myself and I forgot my bitter experience with CITI Bank Credit Card. I thought that I am late for becoming the proud owner of HDFC Credit Card. Thus when another executive approached me after an appointment fixed by a very sweet feminine voice over phone, I fell in to another trap "the Savings Account of HDFC" and a fixed deposit. But the experience I had was very bitter, first with Credit Card and then with Savings Bank. When my complaint was not attended despite several request, I went to one of the sweet spoken smart looking official ("girl") who was the concerned official at that branch; she boldly gave a list of officers with a comment that "You can go to any one you want and don't stop in the regional level, go to the Head Quarters too and also you can close the account and this is how you can close the account (explaining the procedure for closing the account)". Her words made me remember " All that glitters are not Gold" - (It can be the dirtiest thing also). I thanked her and immediately cancelled my account. Yes these beings are very "Powerful" as they can do anything they like as they fear no one and if you question them, you can be behind bars too. If you want your hard earned money to be looted go to HDFC otherwise there are banks like SBI, Syndicate Bank etc where your complaints get gentle and correct treatment. I am thanked and respected still in my Syndicate Bank branch for a complaint five years back that they corrected in least time.
Recently a close relative handed me some cash and asked me to deposit it in his account at HDFC. I thought of obliging him (he was going abroad that day) though I have a fear out of my previous experience. When I went to the counter I was insulted and accused of cheating the bank by depositing cash in another persons account. I made a call to my relative and asked for any other account in any other bank. He gave an SBI account number and I deposited the cash with a pleasing smile. As a precaution before depositing I asked the SBI official if I can deposit cash in another person's account. He answered positively with a smile.
