Customer Service:

I am just posting the mail conversation here with HDFC. You shall rate it yourselves.

On receipt of your e-mail we have made a detailed analysis and observe that you had effected payment for Rs. 6, 331.00 for the card number 4346 xxxxxxx2206. We wish to inform you that the payment should have been credited to the correct card number 4346 xxxxxxxx4087. We request you to send us a duly signed letter stating payment was credited to wrong card number with the payment details(amount, date of payment and location of payment ) On receipt of your letter the payment will be credited to the correct card number and request for No dues certificate will be processed.

Thanks for your response. The Chennai phone number which you gave as 044 23744002 is never attended. When I initially enquired the customer care about my outstanding they arranged a call back from that number. Some one by name Indhu called from that number to tell me the outstanding amount after which no calls came from them and I too couldn't reach them. I have tried in different days, different timings and more than 20 times.

We have taken cognizance of your comments and the spirit in which you have shared your feedback. It is unfortunate to note that your recent experience with the Bank has not been up to your satisfaction. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to you in this regard. We understand from your e-mail that you wish to request the transfer of funds from the incorrect card number to the correct card account. We regret our inability to process your request received on e-mail due to security constraints. In view of the above and as apprised in our earlier response, we request you to send us a duly signed letter requesting transfer of funds to enable us to do the needful. We seek your understanding and co-operation in this regard.

Whom should I send the letter? Where should I send? How should I send? Could you answer these questions? Because the one number which you are saying is never been attended.

This is with reference to youre-mail regarding the payment made towards your credit card account. I have sent the letter as per the address you have given. I dropped this letter a week before in the correspondence box located in an HDFC ATM near Kalyani Nagar, Pune. Please let me know the proceedings regarding this.

We thank you for your co-operation in forwarding the duly filled Indemnity form, as apprised in our earlier e-mail. Upon receipt of the original form, we shall arrange to credit your payment to your credit card bearing number: 4346 XXXX XXXX 4087, post which a no due confirmation will be sent to you. We request you to bear with us in the interim.

and they sadly have to live ever after...

Update 1 after this long joke...

My Mail to them:

You have always given the worst attention towards the customer. Your bank has a cunning way of putting a po box number for these kind of communication which allows only normal post service possible which makes the client no where in a position to claim that he has sent the forms. You shall say whatever you want. You shall say the letter has never reached you also. I cannot claim that I have sent. You always answer through different officers every time to make sure that the customer is put on to explain every thing from the beginning.

Their Answer:

Being fully sensitised to your concerns expressed with regard to the payment processing, we have arranged to credit your payment of Rs.6, 331.00 to your card bearing # 4346 XXXX XXXX 4087 and a letter confirming no dues for this card account will be sent to your mailing address recorded with us. You may look forward to receiving the same shortly. We request you to bear with us in the interim.

And after 15 days of no reply now I am sending this mail

Dear Ms.Rajeswari Jayasekar,

I still didn’t receive your ’’No due’’ letter. From August 7 to August 23 the days count to 15. It is a lot of time for me. How about you?

and the story continues still.....
