I have been a customer of savings account from last 3 years, initially they cheque and visa debit card with just magnetic strip. It used to average quarterly balance of 10K and the charges were around 300 on non maintenance.
After a year or they replaced my card with chip and PIN for no reason even before I asked for a replacement by saying the transactions would be more secure and so on. As they have got wide variety of cards on accounts you would getting nothing out of it except few other extra charges on that particular cards every year.
Now recently they came up new charges as average monthly balance instead of quarterly, thats a good business strategy to loot the money on monthly basis if the balance goes lower than the limit. They mind keeping you balance in negative as if they have got right to deduct when ever a mount is credited in the account.
Now AMB is sitting at 680 a month for some type of cards, even they started charging for online transfers like NEFT and RTGS. as RBI recently proposed only 5 free transactions a month, banks are on plus side to come with some extra charges even to withdraw your own money even from same bank ATM transactions.
