Number one annoying thing for me in a bank is "Hidden Charges".

I had a frustrating experience with ICICI bank in this regard and opened account with HDFC bank.

HDFC do have some hidden charges.

I am pretty happy with their over all service.

HDFC Banks are crowded big time.

Employees do clear the crowd reasonably fast.

Not every thing great about HDFC.

Like in many nationalized banks in HDFC bank also I have seen customer getting yelled,

I have seen employees looking busy and avoiding eye contact with waiting customer.

I think this due to shortage of tellers.

I guess Bank Industry in India is growing so fast that

Teller shortage is fact of life in most of the banks.

I have a general complaint about banks in India.

Banks asks you write a letter for

  1. Change of address

  2. premature FD closing

  3. Funds transfer between accounts(third party)

  4. Dollar rupee conversion

  5. Foreign exchange withdrawal

etc .   etc .

I used to get frustrated writing "Leave Letter" in my school exam.

I was hoping this Letter writing'll get over after I finished schooling.

Now I have to write a letter for every small thing. Sigh .

Why don't Banks have dotted forms?

So that we(customer) could fill in the details and Sign in the dotted line?

The excuse Banks have for this is, they have way too many different type of cases to create forms.

This is not at all true. Number of possible cases would be surely less than 100.

Banks just have to keep a PDF file in computer, and print a form when needed.

Another biggest mystery with Indian banks is, why can't they have a copier(xerox machine) in house?

Overall I think HDFC is the best bank available out there.
