Hi,


This is to share my experience of withdrawing cash at one ATM of HDFC bank at Dombivili East,in Maharasthra.


Today,i,e on 15-12-05 at 19.57 ,I had used HDFC bank ATM (no.S1ANBY20)at Dombivili East.However,on commanding for cash withdrawal of Rs.2000/-,the ATM displayed a message like ''operation can't be processed for malfunctioning''(i don't remember the exact box but the meaning was same)and there was no cash out.Then,I had taken a print out of mini statement and then there was the debit of Rs.2000/- from my account though the money didn't come out.I immediately called the security and along with securiy, one person came in (he introduced himself as one staff of the bank) and I explained him my position.Then,we again tried and this time I got cash of Rs.2000/- and the next mini statement also showed another debit of Rs.2000/-.


In a nutshell,my account got debited twice whereas the money was given once.


Asking for remedy,I was told by your staff that the same shall be reversed later.Naturally,I wanted in writing because there is no proof of same.But the bank staff deneid saying that it is against the bank's policy.


They just kept verbally assuring me that I will gt the money back.But what if I don't get?No answer could be given to that.


Now,till the amount is credited back to me,I will be under tension. Clearly,this is no fault of mine.but entirely the bank's/ATM's problem, (whether it is an ATM link failure or whatever,why shud the client suffer?


Further,no phone (interbanking) facility was kept inside the ATM and on calling phone-banking from my cell,and dialling 9,I was told by a recorded message that the facility is only from 8.00 a.m t 8.00 p.m .So,where is the 24 hrs service???


Nobody knows.


Thereafter,I called at phonebanking at 33 and lodged a complaint with great difficulty (no.864008),as the receiving end kept on assuring me that it will be credited,but only on verbal.Nothing can be given in writing,despite the fact that everyone knew that the ATM was problemetic and my complain was true.I also made the staff talk to the phonebanker,but of no use.


Look at the customer's suffering - it is my money and I lost it due to bank's fault yet the bank is not ready to back me or lend suport.


i still don't knowwhether I will get the money back,but is the bank going to share my tension?What if the amount had been 20,000 in place of 2000?


I will definitely not recommend such a bank to keep my money...where is the security?the commitemnt to customers?


I am shocked and disturbed as I always had a high opinion of HDFC bank and it got shattered now.
