I am a premium HDFC Bank credit card holder for over 10 years now. Earlier this year, my card was upgraded to a PIN enabled card because of which the standing Instructions that I had provided on my old card elapsed.HDFC customer care somehow convinced me to sign up for their'smart pay' option to pay my bills, which would provide me some cash back as well. I eventually was tricked into signing up for this.
One month elapsed & my woes started. My bills were not honored by the bank & I have been levied a late payment fee from my biller for the same. I have called up the Bank's customer care a couple of times & registered a handful of complaints as well(which is the only thing that the customer care really cares to do- register complaints & give you some useless reference IDs). The customer care neither takes the ownership to resolve the problem directly with the biller nor take conference calls with us to solve the issue together. Basically, they are just clueless about everything & of course careless too, since it does not concern their pocket or time. Today, I called them up again feeling harassed & they have offered to cancel the smart pay option conveniently for me instead of sorting the issue out(!).
What sort of customer support is this? Even a third grade restaurant on the street treats its customers better than how a so called premium bank treats. I am continuing to hold this card only because I don't want to go through the trauma of getting it canceled again knowing their "excellent" customer service capabilities.
