AVA Shopping and HDFC cr card - Pathetic, careful

I was holding a HDFC Gold credit card since Dec’07. With the May month statement, I got the pamphlet for AVA shopping with the list of products to shop.


I wanted to buy Foot Massager and placed an order in AVA (orders can be given through phone only and the call center is located in Gurgaon). The order was placed on 11th June’08 and got SMS confirmation immediately with product code and order no. Next day I got SMS from AVA on courier AWB no. and the delivery date of the product was mentioned as 19-07-08.


But I got courier only on 1st Aug’08 and the product delivered was a Pizza pan instead of Foot Massager. I called AVA the next day (2nd Aug’08) and raised a complaint. They confirmed me somebody will pick the pizza pan and within a week, foot massager will be delivered. I called again on 6th and got the same reply. When I asked for a complaint no. for reference, they said they don’t have the concept of creating complaint no. I waited for 4 days and called HDFC credit card department customer care.


They asked me to check with AVA as they cannot handle this scenario. I did last try of calling AVA again on 12th and got the SAME reply. Again after waiting for 4 days, I called HDFC customer care. When I asked to transfer the call to manager, they gave all the reasons and didn’t transfer the call. Instead they told me HDFC is not responsible for this issue. I told them I am going to cancel the credit card and hanged the call.


I wrote a letter explaining my problem and along with my credit card cut into pieces, I dropped the letter in HDFC bank ATM. I had unbilled usage. Foot massager was bought with EMI option and my 1st EMI was already taken. So I attached cheque for outstanding amount minus the Emi deducted. Next day I noticed my cheque was used by HDFC bank. And I didn’t get any call from them.


My concern is HDFC bank should take the responsibility of supporting their customers in this kind of situation but I didn’t get any help even after so many ESCALATIONS. I got the AVA product list along with the HDFC statement.HenceI placed the order in AVA having faith in HDFC bank. I am a regular user of HDFC Credit card and have good payment history. I had taken so much of EFFORT AND TIME in calling AVA and HDFC customer support. Still I didn’t get support. *




So I strongly recommend not doing shopping through AVA. Also please note the kind of customer support given by HDFC bank and be careful when dealing with such banks.




NOTE: If I had not cancelled the card, they would have deducted EMI every month as usual and my product would not have delivered too. So I took the decision of cancelling this card.
