It is an honest film I must say and if I am as honest as the film is then I shall agree that tear drops fell a little more generously than they usually do. I was completely overwhelmed as the drama progressed and eventually came out of the theatre mesmerized. Outside, I noticed a couple of older faces and I could see that they were mulling over the soul stirring stuff that they have just been through. You can imagine the emotional state that you happen to be in when you have seen something so sensible and pure. The movie “Guzaarish” is a guzaarish to be alive not only in its literal sense but to actually live life to its fullest; to wear a smile despite all odds.

Yes, “Guzaarish” indeed lives up to the expectations in my opinion. I am disheartened to see some of us signing the moving off as a boring stuff; however, that does stop me to go all praises. It is a must watch. So, please get together with family & friends, watch this profound drama & rejoice. Let’s slow down a little; contemplate about good things in life, be considerate, stop to say a few kind words to someone, offer some gifts, practice forgiveness, make friends, spread the positive life force, revel in creativity, do the things that make us happy from within & be grateful for all the things that life has to offer us. Perhaps that’s what this movie tries to convey in a very beautiful dramatic fashion.

Hritik & Aishwarya have taken their chemistry in Dhoom 2 & Jodha Akbar to the next level by delivering phenomenal performances in an ambitious and optimistic portrayal of what a true love could be like. It has become so rare these days. That fondness and understanding is so missing these days that relationships are becoming more of a give & take. The movie takes us to a world where someone can wait a lifetime to hear a few words of love and make sacrifices of insurmountable proportions to fulfill a wish of the beloved. The story has Euthanasia or mercy killing as the base; however, the eternal love between the main protagonists has been portrayed beautifully. The movie also tries to put up a few questions before the litigation fraternity; yet the manner in which the story has been presented is brilliant. While Hritik Roshan has yet again come up with a vintage performance, Aishwarya Rai too stands out. Her exuberance in the song sequence “Udi-Udi” is simply adorable and she’s done equal justice to the melancholic portions. “Head down in gratitude” is what Hritik’s tweeted yesterday and one can very well understand how much he has been appreciated. Be it his acts while being a magician or as a paraplegic; he has done them with equal conviction. It also speaks volumes of the kind of efforts he must have put in to get into the groove of this character.

I shall not go into too much details and just say that all the others characters specially Shernaz Patel, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Nafisa Ali, Rajat Kapoor, Suhail Seth & Vijay Crishna have done really well in their respective roles. All the other characters; however, small the presence is; maintain the flow. Cinematography is simply brilliant. Perhaps they could have used a different colour combination rather than keeping it same as “Black” & “Sanwariya”. It gave it a gloomy look at the onset and people considered the movie as far too serious flick even when the movie has a positive feel throughout.

The surprise element would definitely be Sanjay Leela Bhansali ‘s music. The music album is again a very commendable effort as it promises to be different than what’s been the current trend. SEL had done it with My Name is Khan and now Guzaarish is also straight from the heart and has strong poetic appeal. KK is at his vintage best in the title track and Shail Hada has actually come a long way from Sanwariya’s title track to “Tera Zikr Hai”. Kunal Ganjawala’s “Sau Gram Zindagi” is fast becoming a favorite and Shankar Mahadevan lends his magical voice in soulful rendition of Dundhli Dhundhli. Sunidhi Chauhan’s “Udi” became an instant chartbuster. The filming as we all know is equally great.

It was “My Name is Khan” that gave a very promising beginning of the year to the Bollywood & “Guzarish” excels towards the end. To me these two movies are real Gems of the year. This also hints to a trend that big filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali & Karan Johar are also very keen on diving deep into their creative mindsets and come up with the things that give them actual gratification. They have enjoyed enough of box-office success but nothing can beat the success that comes with heartfelt appreciations & the one that comes when you have made a difference in lives of many.

It’s my earnest request to them to keep coming up with such movies as these are somewhat real things despite being the reel stuff. More importantly, I would urge the movie viewers to be a little more sensitive to movies like this and take the message that they are trying to pass on. The communication shall then be complete. The good things should keep pouring in. I am a little perplexed to see the whole thing becoming so business oriented that they are selling almost anything & everything under the sun. I am sure many of us will agree that our country’s audiences are now being exposed to the things that do not really augur well for the Indian culture. We often read about various kinds of pollution that pose threat to the environment; however, we are not paying any heed to the “Cultural Pollution” that is spreading like Algae.

Considering that the Viewers are impressionable and especially those in their tender ages-they learn and imitate a lot of things shown to them. To be honest, the kind of vulgarity, nudity & violence our people are getting exposed to are not really helping them to be progressive. They are ruining India’s cultural heritage for sure. Hence, let’s encourage and applaud the efforts of the film-makers who are trying to genuinely put forth some sensible and heart touching movies.

As far as the box-office business is concerned, Guzaarish is definitely taking a hit due to Harry Potter’s latest movie being released the same day and the initial frenzy among the metro audiences building in favour of the later; however, I must say that this more because of the “fashion” than the movie itself. A portion of young crowd would consider watching a Harry Potter movie as the “in” thing rather than going for a traditional Bollywood flick. I am definitely not against the Hollywood flick here; however, I am certain about one thing—if you are a movie lover and not watching Guzaarish, you are missing one of the finest movies Bollywood has produced. It may not entertain you like a comedy film, yet certainly give you a lot to think about the brighter side of life.
