GURU was slated to be released next week, but now deferred till January fearing competition with BHAGAMBHAG.Movie remains intriguing between rumours of being based on Dhirubhai Ambani and impending relationship between their male and female protagonist offscreen.

Music by Rahman and lyrics by Gulzar always make it desirable.

Barso re…by Shreya Ghoshal and Uday Mazumdar is being promoted these days vigorously picturised on Aiswarya is good enough.Kind of hit, looks like.Shreya has tried hard to sound like Rai and has succeeded.

Rahman could not resist so he sang himself tere bina …with Chinmayee, obviously some newcomer.Overall song is good, these days more and more directors are drifting to sufi style of singing, may be bored by hiphop or too mushy songs.

An item song called mayya mayya…shot in Turkey creating much flutters these days,it looks like Mallika Sherawat is getting undeserved attention.Sung by Maryem Toller,Chinmayee and Keerthi, song a bit different though with Arabian fillers, lyrics barely audible except Mayya Mayya, looks like it has visual value only.

It seems when certain people touch anything ,it turns to gold,is the case with Ay Hairathe…by Hariharan and Alka Yagnik, is very very good.Alka has turned to a new category of serious singers after those mushy hit songs of ‘Kuch Kuch hota hai”.

Baazi laga…by Udit Narayan,MadhuShree and Swetha Bargavee is merry-go-lucky song, nothing special. As the story claims to be between 50’s and 80’s,music has to be some how give a feel of that period as this song reflects.Yodelling in between entertains.

Jage hain…by Chitra and Rahman brought back memories of night before exams when we would take very less sleep late night and anticipate the frightening question papers!Rahman could have taken some other male singer instead singing it himself,in the beginning, he is pathetic,I have heard his hindi is miserable, but how could he sing hindi songs then??

Bappi Lahiri has plunged himself as full fledged singer, now he is back with ek lo ek muft…his voice for first time has been used rightly,he certainly reflects salesman kind of vocal chord ,overused after frantic efforts of selling tactics,Chitra also sings along wasting herself…

Overall ,album is average, may be is made in sync with Movie’s storyline, could have been made better.
