My Film Review on GURU:Reason for watching: Well my initial reason for seeing this film, was not for the cast, but for the AMAZING music from A R RAHMAN and MANI RATNAM, which never seem to disappoint.
The Film story for me:
If I had one word to describe this film, it would be "Enlightening".
This film makes you realise that NOTHING is impossible and that obstacle can come our way whenever but we need to keep going. I felt inspired by the man Guru and his determination to succeed. Its what we all can relate to, especially when we have struggled. The story of a man from a common family whom live in poverty, where people always doubted him, Yet he NEVER listened to word 'No'.
Performances:
SUPPORTING CAST:
MITHUN: He did what he needed to do, he acted great with the part that was given and stayed believable throughout.
VIDYA BALAN: She again brought herself to a new avatar, she is going to keep growing, her disabilty character touched me.
MADHAVAN: He was sooo Natural in his role, done it with ease.
MALIKA SHERAWAT: Did what she did, Danced, Nothing special.
MAIN CAST:
ABHISHEK BACHCHAN: Finally!! I have been waiting for soo long to see him in a performance where I could honestly say he MADE it and brought it forward. Every move, every expression was GURU.
Loved his performance, I can't find any flaw. Well done Abhishek. From this performance, you sure have served yourself and deserve an Award!
AISHWARIYA RAI: Very Disappointed. I didn't understand why she was in it. When the first rain song started, she seemed uncomfortable. I liked the part of her carefree attitude, but then afterwards she was just a follower and no independence shown. She didnt really have a role. But I could tell she was very smittten with Abhishek, which is what you see mainly.
I didn't have any expectations, although I did expect this film to have a meaningful message which alot of Mani Ratnam films have shown and I am also a fan of his. Well Done Mani, This is another winner.PLUSSES: Abhishek bachchan, the song Tere bina and background music, the dialogues, direction, story.
MINUSSES: The bad song picturisation, WTF dances were they, didn't like the picturiisations at all. That was one let down, And Aishwariya rai coz I expected more.I give this film: 8.50/10 - Make sure you see this- ENLIGHTEN yourself.
