Beer drinkers today have many choices, and their favorites vary. Some beer drinkers like light beer, because it has little taste, and you can be refreshed on a hot day, drink a bunch of light beer, and not get drunk. Others prefer the medium bodied beers, beers that have a kick to it , beers like Bass and Sam Adams. I like some of those beers also but my all time favorite is Guinness Stout.

Stout is a beer where the barley is cooked (actually it is burned a bit) much longer than other beers, giving it a very dark amber color (so dark that some think it is black). Also as a result of this process, the beer has a bitter taste. Where Guinness stands alone is that it is a bit less bitter than other stouts, making it a sublime experience to drink.

What hooked me on Guinness many moons ago, was the fact when a Guinness is poured, the bubbles go UP the glass, but what kept me was the taste. Guinness is also deceiving, it looks very heavy and filling, but it is actually medium bodied and only has 190 calories, similar to other non-light brews. Guinness' alcohol content is around 5 to 6 percent, a little above average for beer.

I generally drink Guinness when I am out eating dinner, or at home well...eating dinner, but I guess you can drink it anywhere. Guinness Stout is considered expensive here in the U.S, it is a high end beer.

In America, Guinness is imported from Ireland, where Guinness got its start, and where the beer is still revered down to this day (although they drink it warm...blech). In other parts of the world, your Guinness can come from other places (there are over 10 other breweries).

Guinness is great for many reasons, mostly because it is different from most everyday beers, and it is satisfying, refreshing and just damn good, Try a Guinness today!!!
