Originality:

Music has been a significant and eternal part of Bollywood since 'Bollywood' came into being. Singers, music directors, musicians have created history here. The journey of Bollywood music began from the first Motion Picture 'Alam Ara' in 1931.

Since then, there has been no looking back! Bollywood has given us some great singers.

While the era 1940-1970 was ruled by legendary singers like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Hemant Kumar, Mohammad Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhonsle ; the 80-90s introduced singers like Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Sadhna Sargam ,Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal who are singing till today.

Although the Bollywood Music Industry today still holds experienced singers like Lata, Asha, Udit Narayan,Sadhna Sargam and many more, the young newcomers have been able to make their place very well.

These young ones have a lot in common. They all are very fine singers. In spite of having such great singers as their seniors, they have never tried to copy them. Originality is what makes them a class apart. They are extremely talented and experimental. All of them got into music at a very early age, and since then there has been no stopping for any of them!

I'm pretty sure these singers would be the legends tomorrow.

Sunidhi Chauhan: A young lad, confidently walks up on the stage of the talent search TV program 'Meri Awaaz Suno', competes with experienced and older contestants, amazes the audience with her marvelous singing, wins and sets on a journey, never to look back! She is none other than Sunidhi Chauhan who gave her first performance at the age of 4!

Whether it is an item number, a fast track or a slow romantic song, she does it great! I loved her awesome singing in the song 'Mein Mast'from the movie Mast. Its amazing how comfortably she sings on high pitches as in the song 'Mein khuda' from the movie 'Paanch'. It's an amazing number.

'Aa bhi ja' (Sur), Bhaage re mann(Chameli), Mehboob mere (Fiza), Meri Zindagi mein aaye ho (Armaan) are some of my fav' songs sung by her.

Shaan : I remember this cute looking guy with long hair singing 'Mein pehnoo denim jeans, tu pehne choli lehanga' with his sister 'Sagarika'. That was Shaan. The album Q-funk introduced Shaan as a Pop Singer. He has an extremely melodius voice. His songs 'Tanha dil' and 'Bhool ja' became very popular. He not only sang these songs very well but also wrote their lyrics!!Wow!

'Woh pehli baar jab hum mile' from the movie Pyar mein kabhi kabhi is my fav' Shaan number. I loved his voice in the remix 'Hum bewafa hargiz na the' , 'Suno Na' (Jhankaar Beats), ' O humdum suniyo re' (Saathiya), 'Woh ladki hai kahan' (Dil Chahta Hai), Tera Muskurana (Jhakaar Beats).

Shreya Ghosal :Talking of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa', Shreya Ghoshal is another name that is associated to it. She won this singing contest, and signed for 'Devdaas' with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. At a young age of 18, she already has a bag full of awards inluding Filmfare award and National Award for 'Devdaas' in the year 2003.

Her melodious voice flows softly and enchants like some magical spell.

She was extremely sensual in 'Jaadoo hai Nasha hai' (Jism). Other great songs for Shreya Ghosal include 'Chalo tumko lekar chalen'(Jism), 'Aayi jo teri yaad' (Saaya) where she is awesome, 'Her taraf har jagah'

(Saaya).

Way to go, shreya!

K.K : This great singer was nominated for Best Male Singer at Filmfare Awards for the song 'Tadap Tadap ke' from the movie Hum dil de chuke sanam. Although he lost the award to Udit Narayan for the song 'Chaand Chupa Badal Mein' from the same movie

(which I havent been able to understand!), he establised himself as a talented singer!

Well, anything can happen at the 'Filmfare Awards'!!!

He is an excellent singer, perhaps one of the best today.

His voices mesmerizes in 'Aawarapan Banjarapan' (Jism) and 'Kabhi Khushboo' (Saaya). His songs 'Pal' and 'Yaaron' are adorable. He also sounds great in songs 'Naya Naya' (Filhaal), Tu ashiqui hai (Jhankaar Beats), O humdum suniyo re (Saathiya)

Sonu Nigam :Set foot on stage at the age of 3, and today he is one of the most busy Playback singer. Former host of the show 'Sa Re Ga Ma', Sonu Nigam has proven his singing talent by singing a variety and a number of songs. As a pop singer, he did pretty well with this album 'Deewana' and songs like 'Tu', which became very popular. 'Ab mujhe raat din' and 'is kadar pyaar hai tumse aie humsafar' are adorable songs from his pop albums.

When it comes to Bollywood, Sonu Nigam's work is a potpourri. Be it Soft numbers like 'Tere Liye' (Tere Liye), Tu Fiza hai (Fiza), romantic breezes like 'Suraj Hua madham' (Kabhi khushi kabhi gham), Pehli Pehli Baar and Mujhe raat din (Sanhgarsh):

Fun filled songs like 'Dil Dhapaak' (Movie : Tere Liye, which is a great number) and Rama Rama(Love ke liye kuch bhi karega) or intense songs like 'Yeh dil Deewana' (Pardes), tanhaai (Dil Chaahta Hai) and 'Satrangi Re' (Dil Se, One of my fav')...Sonu definitely leaves an impression in each of them.

He won the 2002 Filmfare Award for the song 'Saathiya' from the movie Saathiya.

Vasundhra Das :Remember the bride in the Mira Nair movie 'Monsoon Wedding' ? She also acted in the movie 'Hey Ram' opposite Kamal Hasan. This talented girl is 'Vasundhara Das'. I haven't seen any of these movies, so I cannot comment of her acting performances! But, something that I know about her for sure is that she is a very good singer. I really like her voice and vibrant way of singing.

She sang the English part in the song 'O ri chori' from the movie Lagaan. Her debut song 'Shakalaka Baby' got her a Filmfare Award. She sounds lovely in the song 'Its the time to disco' (Kal ho na ho). Somehow, she reminded me of Nazia Hasan in this song by her style. She also sang the song 'Rabba Rabba' from the movie 'Aks'.

We look forward to hear more from you, Vasundhara.

Adnan Sami :And Last but not the LEAST is Adnan Sami who began playing piano at the age of 5!

His Amazing voice and style are very refreshing. Every time I listen to his album 'Tera Chehra', I get lost in the charm of his magical voice. This fastest keyboard player in the world is a storehouse of talent! His album Tera Chehra is one of the best piece of music ever made in IndiPop. It's fun to watch Adnan in the videos of his songs 'Lift Karade' and 'Kabhee nahi'. Not to forget his album Kabhi to nazar milaao, which is great too.

As in Bollywood, Sami's 'Udi udi udi' (Saathiya) and '<B
