Grease released in the US in 1978 ? the year before I was born. I don?t remember when it released in Harare, Zimbabwe, where I grew up, but I remember my teenaged sister and her friends going wild over John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. They would go in big, giggly groups to see the movie and the music was everywhere ? on the radio, on ?Songs on Saturday? (the one-hour-a-week stand-in for MTV in those days) and of course played and sung ad infinitum by my sis and her gang.
