I have tried to watch this film but the outcome is…..it bores me. The film is very long and nothing really happens at all in the first hour. Then somebody is killed and it turns into a whodunit Cluedo sort of thing, the trouble being by the time it actually gets round to who the murderer was you don’t really care and just want to leave. The film is set in a big country house, everybody is there for a shooting party. They are all rich posh type people and have brought their own maids/valets. Ryan Phillipe, who is the only interesting person in the film, does an excellent Scottish accent which would be the only reason to watch this film (that’s if you like Scottish accents). He is posing as a valet for an American film-maker but turns out to be an actor himself, you can predict this about ten minutes into the film. Soundtrack is non existent unless you enjoy mellow piano music sung in a cheesy ‘I am the greatest and love myself’ way. Acting has no faults, they did the best with the script they had! The worst part, I think, about this film was that they had too many characters. You get mixed up with them and all and can’t remember who is married to who let along who was where when the murder happened. You have to really concentrate which is something you don’t tend to do when you’re bored. I would suggest you wait for the video release of this film. At least you’ll be able to watch it in half hour intervals so you don’t get too bored!
