Stein's work reduced to a RomCom with Monsters. Review on Goosebumps

Goosebumps was an integral part of my childhood as I grew up, while this movie has done some justice in recapturing the nostalgia of all that, it fails pathetically in everything else.The monsters, god they were awful. The Mantis was scary when I was a kid, I was scared it will jump off the page any minute, the movie made my kid sister laugh at the Mantis.

Then we come to the acting, the two lead characters were for all intents and purposes just there to give a human element to a CGI extravaganza and they sucked at that too unfortunately. They had next to none chemistry and really can't act.The comedic relief kid they had dragged into the movie, I don't even know why he was there.The music was in all honesty the best part of the movie, and it captures the atmosphere well, which is ruined by bad acting, but that's not the fault of the music. All in all it was a bad movie, but enjoyable as a one time watch especially if you have kids around.
