This is a review about a bengali crime superhit masterpiece .
Satyajit Ray is perhaps the most well known Indian filmmaker to the Western World and inarguably among the dozen or so great masters of world cinema. He made his films in Bengali, a language spoken in the eastern state of India . And yet, his films are of universal interest. They are about things that make up the human race - relationships, emotions, struggle, conflicts, joys and sorrows. His films demonstrate a remarkable humanism, elaborate observation and subtle handling of characters and situations.
OK forget these high sounding words, I am writing a review about one of his crime-thriller-blockbuster " sonar kella" i.e the Golden fort . Interested ones can visit this its at jaishalmir in RJ .
Is a film that has bewitching action-comedy-thriller ( the train shots and a few fights ) , suspense ( suspence starts from the very first scene itself ....what if u saw a 7-8 year old boy is drawing some unusual pictures that too at 2 AM every-night ? and day after day ??), And within half an hour mins the plot will take you to the deserts of rajastan ..and there are a lot of dangers / crimes / mystery are waiting for our favourite hero Mr Pradosh C Mitter( ...and all these comes with a packets of laughter time to time ( mostly caused by jatayu , the famous writer like the at the time of camel ride/ doing excercise / at trains ).
There are some breath-taking scenes( chasing a train on a camelbacks ,and scenic beauty of Rajastan ) and hair-raising shots( puncherring tyres by board pins ) ....and dont forget its a 1974 films....and still a favourite of all ages .Beautiful color photography and use of color for dramatic effect are also some other advantages ..
well here are the plot :
*Mukhul Dhar the six year old son of Shudhir Dhar shows signs of having memories of previous birth .He is somewhat paranormal . He draws pictures at the dead of night , his drawings shows about an ancient war between two kings AND often he talks about a Golden fort.
Parapsychologist Dr.Hemangomohan Hazra examines him and concludes that the place may be some where in Western Rajasthan and offers to take him to search for the golden fortress .
The journalists in the mean time turn it into a hidden treasure story which attracts two crooks Burman and Mandar Bose who disposes Dr .Hazra and wins Mukul ‘s trust for the rest of the journey .
Meanwhile Shudhir appoints private detective feluda(Prodosh) Mitter and his cousin tapesh , suspecting his son to be in danger and they leave for Jodhpur a day after . They all stay in the circuit house and Bose assumes the role of a globe trotter and Burman stays in the disguise of Dr Hazra .Burman hypnotizes Mukul who names Jaisalmer as the place of his former birth .They trick felu and sets for jaisalmer with Mukul.*
Feluda, through a series of incidents and the mysterious appearance of the real Dr Hazra gradually finds out the trickand ends in exposing the crooks and solving the mystery. The climax comes in the golden fortress where felu is able to free mukul from danger , as well as from his obsession.

Now acting : soumitra chatterjee / santosh dutta are really world-class . And to charaterise pheluda/ jatayu we cannot imagine anyone else . See the films and enjoy .
