The pure intention of Golmaal is to leave the audience with the experience of having been entertained and it doesn’t attempt to preach, teach or impart any kind of moral lesson .

Gopal [Ajay Devgan], Madhav [Arshad Warsi], Lucky [Tusshar Kapoor] and Laxman [Sharman Joshi] are a group of four kool wannabes.Though they are not exactly diaper buddies, but definitely thick friends.

Though Sharman is sincere simple and hardworking, the remainng trio are just the opposite. However, they share one thing in common. They fail throughout their career and don’t allow Sharman to pass college ,who aspires to be a medical Doctor. And since all of them are jobless they can’t afford a individual bikes, so they have this 4-seater bike. And all of them live on donations and borrowed money.

They stay at a boys’ hostel, but are eventually expelled after selling the exam's paper. By chance they come across a building where a old blind couple(Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Mukherjee) live together waiting their arrival of their grandson Sameer from America. The gang forces Laxman to act as he's the blind couples grandson. However the old couple hear Gopals voice associated with Laxmans body so whenever the blind couple are with Laxman,Gopal has to speak on their matter.

This bizarre sequence leads to much confusion throughout the film creating lots of comedy.

As a director Rohit Shetty comes up with a story that throws logic to the wind but is hilarious ,full of great lines and comically absurd situations. The film is laced with gags that leave the viewer in splits and is filled with twists and turns which keep the viewers interest alive through. He earlier directed damp squib Zameen but this is his first attempt at the comedy genre but the results are awe-inspiring.

He shows the complete control over the genre right from the very first frame and makes it clear that the movie will be a fun filled ride and never takes himself too seriously and maintains a steady pace throughot.

The story/screenplay by Neeraj Vora is well written keeping in mind what the movie is trying to achieve though the film has its share of flaws too. One wishes that he had not divided the film into number of sub-plots which slow the films story down and drags in parts. The track involving Mukesh Tiwari is totally unwanted and only the flat spot in an otherwise perfect film .Also One could say that after a very good first half, the pace of the flick does slow down in the second half especially the fight between foursome and Vrijesh Harjee is downright irritating.

Thankfully the high point in the movies soon when Rohit Shetty tries to balance the proceeding with emotions especially when Paresh Rawal narrates the truth in pre-climax .The scene is simply moving and would prompt delicate one to reach for their handkerchief[I did!]. Something, which totally reminds us of those golden days of Indian cinema where natural comedies and emotions were ruling the roost. But just when the viewer thinks the movie is about to slow down with high degree of melodrama ,the film picked up fatser than a bullet which doesn't stop down until the climax.

In terms of performances ,the film is a winner!

Tusshar's facial expressions, body language and dialogues/delivery are all just emmaculate and he raises laughs aplenty throughout the movie.Ajay looks the part he plays and gives a effective portrayl. I felt he overdid his part in a few scenes, but these don't take anything away from his performance. Arshad crackles with screen presence everytime he is on and manages to steal the show with his performance .His scene had the viewers falling off their seats.Rimi looks absolutely stunningly gorgeous throughout the entire movie.Sharman is definetly one who springs a surprise. His whacky comic sense is just perfect.Paresh and Sushmita Mukherjee are fantastic.Mukesh Tiwari is average and fails to register impact.

Technically the film is fantastic. The camerawork is glossy and has the look and feel of a big budget bonanza. The music is deifnetly foot tapping .Especially 'Kyon Aghe' is quite nostalgic due to its B/W feel...

A thoroughly enjoyable and clean entertainer which will be enjoyed by all. The film has something to offer to everyone.
