There’s something about this title that inspires a genuine comedy from its director. While, Hrishi da’s Golmaal with the inimitable Utpal Dutt and the evergreen Amol Palekar is already Bollywood legend, Rohit Shetty manages to raise quite a laugh with the new version as well. Although, the plot is inspired from Priyan’s Malayalam blockbuster “Kaaka Kuyil”, this movie manages to hold its own and helps Rohit find the ground he lost with the dud called Zameen.

Ajay, Arshad, Tusshar and Sharman are four good-for nothing fellows who get expelled from the boys’ hostel and end up as paying guests in a blind, old couple’s (brilliantly played by Paresh and Sushmita Mukherji) house. There the foursome comes to know that the couple is waiting for the arrival of their grandson and they force Sharman to act as the grandson. And in a twist, Ajay becomes the ‘voice’ for the grandson, so they both have to be present to enact the drama. A hilarious comedy of errors follows. Arshad and Tusshar are great in their respective roles. Rimii Sen as the suspicious neighbour plays her part well. Neeraj Vora’s dialogues add spice to the proceedings. Vishal Shekhar’s music blends in well with the general mood of the film.

This movie is like a breath of fresh air and definitely worth a dekko.
