GOLMAAL is the movie which I love to see anytime. It is one of a superb and light-hearted comedy movie of bollywood. Whenever I catch this movie on television or anywhere then I am glued to the seat. I love to see the role of Utpal Dutta and Amol Palekar in this movie. Utpal Dutta is simply the best in the comedy role.

Let me list out the making of this movie:

GOLMAAL (1979)

Director: Hrishikesh Mukherjee

Producer: N.C. Sippy and Hrishikesh Mukherjee

Music: R.D. Burman

Lyrics: Gulzar

Starring: Utpal Dutt, Amol Palekar, Bindiya Goswami, Dina Pathak, David, Deven Verma, Keshto Mukherjee, Shobha Khote and Om Prakash.

Special Appearance by Amitabh Bachchan

Story:

This movie is all about a young man played by Amol Palekar who gets a job at Utpal Dutt’s company where he disguise himself with a man having moustache and with sanskars and traditions but in reality he is clean shaved young man, quite westernized and opposite as he pretended to his boss, and plays the role of fictional twin brother.

Ram Prasad Sharma (Amol Palekar) is looking for a job. In his family including him he has his sister Ratna. Through a close family friend Doctor Mama (David) he comes to know about a job at Urmila Trading Corporation owned by Bhavani Shankar (Utpal Dutt). He gets to know about certain restrictions needed for the job.

Bhavani Shankar is a very traditional person and his saying is that the youth should have nothing extra interest in activities like sports or music but only should concentrate on the goal related to their job. He himself with mustache wants his employ to be a typical mustached man. His saying is that ''jiske paas mooch nahi hai, uske paas mann hi nahi hai''. (so all the men with mustache , be proud of your mustache :))

Ram Prasad gets ready for the job with artificial mustache, oily hair and with the traditional personality. With the help of his friend (Deven Verma) working in film industry gives him the outfit. While taking interview of Ram Prasad, Bhavani Shankar gets impressed with him and gives him the job.

One day Bhavani Shankar attends a football match where he comes to see Ram Prasad enjoying the match, as in reality Ram Prasad is a big fan of this sport but for the sake of job he had to hide all this activities. And now Ram Prasad is supposed to explain his boss regarding it so he creates his twin personality Laxman Prasad Sharma, who is a clean-shave person and just opposite to the character of Ram Prasad. Bhavani Shankar is fooled once again.

Ram Prasad adds that his brother Laxman Prasad is good for nothing and of no use, and is a spoilt of not having any work. Bhavani Shankar becomes emotional and wants to help Ram Prasad relieve from being the only one to support his family and he employs Laxman Prasad as a music teacher for his daughter Urmila (Bindya Goswami) and later they fall in love.

Urmila is in love with Laxman Prasad not with Ram Prasad, and Laxman Prasad is hated by Bhavani Shankar. From here starts the life of a person who has to live the dual life of Ram Prasad and Laxman Prasad who is totally different from each other.

Ram Prasad presents a non-existent mother which is played by Dina Pathak, to show herself as a real mother of Ram Prasad she presents herself as a traditional type of mother in front of Bhavani Shankar and when Bhavani Shankar meets Ram Prasad’s mother, he gets pretty much impressed by her personality and respects her.

There is one hilarious scene where Bhavani Shankar attends a party and there he comes to see Ram Prasad’s artificial mother (Dina Pathak) and she also comes face to face with him and poor Bhavani Shankar, to know the fact he runs towards the home of Ram Prasad and Dina Pathak also runs towards home from short cut.

When Bhavani Shankar reaches home Ram Prasad and his sister Ratna get shock to see him and when he asks about Ram Pd’s mother then they both get nervous and says that she is inside and on the other side Dina Pathak enter inside the house through the ventilation of the kitchen, really it is a very hilarious scene. And when she comes in front of Bhavani Shankar then she pretends to be normal and when Bhavani Shankar says that he have seen her in the party then again the twin personality of sisters is created by Dina Pathak and as the same story of Ram Prasad and Laxman Prasad is been decorated and presented in front of Bhavani Shankar, and poor fellow he is again fooled (Utpal Dutt looks very innocent and funny too).

I love the last scene, when the truth is revealed in front of Bhavani Shankar. The scene where Ram Prasad is been invited for lunch in Bhavani Shankar’s home. While Ram Prasad having lunch was treated very well from Bhavani Shankar and his sister (Shobha Khote) but in the moment while eating Ram Prasad’s mustache cheats him and half of its part is moving and Ram Prasad is unknown from this but Bhavani Shankar and his sister knew that the mustache was artificial and they have been fooled but still they are serving him food and forcing him to eat, and Bhavani Shankar says that it is your last time u eating food and then he pulls the mustache and here begins the hide and seek (a really comedy).

You asking what happens at the ending… Nope, I will not tell coz whoever haven’t watched this movie do watch it, it’s worth watching and I bet you will enjoy every scene of this movie.

Great performance by Amol Palekar, there is simplicity in him. Everlasting performance given by Utpal Dutt, the natural comedy and the dialogues spoken by him is more enjoyable. These both actors Amol Palekar and Utpal Dutt have gone so well with each other in this movie as well as other movies like “Rang Birangee” & “Naram Garam”.

Om Prakash has done great job in the short role of the police officer. Rest of the characters has given their very well support to this movie. For surprise, Amitabh Bachchan is in a special appearance playing himself.

The song of this movie “Aane Wala Pal Jaanewala Hai” is very beautiful song with gr8 https://lyrics. It is one of the fabulous songs of Kishore Kumar. The lyrics have been given by Gulzaar. The music of the movie is by R D Burman. The title song of this movie “Golmaal Hai Bhai Sab Golmaal Hai” is nice one and enjoyable song that goes well with the movie. In this movie everything is golmaal.

There was one time when the comedy movies like Golmaal was made and now we can hardly find such pure comedy. Now we can watch comedy movies like Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul but in these movies there are no such taste and comedy like Golmaal and such other movie holds.
