Being a true Vada Pav fan all over my life, I missed it badly when I shifted my base to Bangalore.
Every visit to a new place in Bangalore will keep my eyes busy hunting for Vada Pav outlets, and would seldom land up tasting something which names right in the menu card, but lands up with something else when served. For a Rs. 5-10 Vada Pav in Mumbai-Pune, I have ended up aishwaryasingh23ing once Rs. 75.
But I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would now no longer have to do that as we finally have a Vada Pav outlet in Brigade Metropolis premises i.e. @ Brigade Arcade.
When I saw the board "Goli VadaPav" being fixed days before the inaugration of the outlet, I almost applied a sudden brake to my car to check out whether I read the term "Vada Pav" correctly or was it another day craving for my Mumbai Hamburger.
Keenly waited for the inaugration day and was one of the few people who rushed to the outlet to order one. The first entry gave me an impression of visiting a smaller version of the McDonald outlet and that disappointed me a bit. Further when I ordered the Vada Pav, and tasted the first bite, all my happiness came crashing down, since what I tasted was the McVadaPav. The batter used to dip the Vadapav was replaced with something similar to the one used at McDonald instead of the besan. Also the thiki mouth-watering chatnis were replaced with something else.
Well when everything is changing, then why not the Vada Pav. When we have started visiting malls more often, then why not get adjusted to the modernised version of the Vada Pav too. And then archive all the sweet memories of having the traditional Hamburger deep into my memories for future generation. Or may I can post it few years down the lane in some old and lost traditional recipe section.
But coming to reality, the shop is always crowded, which means it is indeed a hit as compared to other food outlets. Atleast, its some sort of relief from the usual Pizzas and McDonald stuff for people of all ages.
Kids can relish on Cheese Fingers which are truly yummy, and grown-ups can try out from simple Vada Pav to McVadaPavs ranging from Cheese Vada Pav to Schezwan Vada Pav to Spinach Corn Vada Pav.
Other additional items which I have not yet got to taste are the Samosas and SabudAnasultan Vada. But on another note, I thought of side-lining SabudAnasultan Vada so that the original taste does not gets lost with the new version.
Overall I can say, its better to have something than nothing. Instead of visiting McDonald and spending a couple of hundered notes, sit back in your own campus and enjoy Goli Vada Pav for the entire family with a single hundered rupee note.
But to be human is to hope for more and more and more. So, why not I hope one day Joshi Vadewale too will join us @ Brigade Metropolis. Till then, we will keep visiting this center and make sure it will never run out of business.
