Golden temple is located in Amritsar, Punjab. It is hardly fifteen minutes away from the railways station.
I visited there two years ago along with my family from Delhi by Swarna Shatabdi Express. The train started at around 7:20 AM and was to reach Amritsar Junction at around 2:00 PM. But due to some demonstration, the train had to be stopped at Jalandhar and we were taken to Amritsar by road. We reached Amritsar at around 6:30 pm. From there we took a rickshaw to reach Golden Temple.
After reaching there, first of all, we visited inside Golden Temple. It is a wonderful place. When inside, one just forgets everything and feels very peaceful inside. We also had parshada/langar there and thereafter moved to our room which was already booked.
Around 9 pm we just roamed around Golden Temple area and had our dinner at Brothers' Dhaba. The food was delicious. Thereafter, we returned to our room and went to sleep.
In the morning at around 9:30 am we again visited inside Golden Temple. There was great rush there as compared to last evening; maybe because it was Sunday. Thereafter we again went to Brothers's Dhaba and had our breakfast.
We then visited nearby places like Jaliawala Bagh, temples etc. Since we reached late yesterday, we could not visit Wagha Border.
We caught our return train at around 5:30 pm from the railway station and reached Delhi at around 11:00 pm.
It was a wonderful and memorable trip for me.
