Golden Resort Igatpuri. Review on Golden Resort, Nashik

This Valentines day I wanted to go out with my best friend to a really nice place. You know something romantic, not very commercialized, close to nature. After a lot of research and with the help of the reviews on mouthshut.com, I zeroed in on Golden Resort, Igatpuri. My friend and I felt like the weekend should never get over. We wanted time to stand still.

But now that the dream is over, I thought writing a review on it will help you guys, plus I will get to walk down memory lane.

The Drive

Facts: We left at 10:30 am on Saturday. It took us 2 and 1/2 hours from Thane to Igatpuri. From Thane, we took the Nashik highway, and drove straight, straight and straight… after crossing the Kasara ghat, we saw Manas resort on the left side. We kept going. After some 10 minutes drive there is a big Gurudwara on the right side of the road. On the left side, there is a board of Golden Resort. We took that left. The resort is about half a km inside on that kutcha road. In fact that road leads only to the resort.

:-) The road is simply awesome. Breathtaking scenery along the way. The open land with little dry bushes was looking like the background shown in Guzarish song of Ghajini. Once you hit the ghat, you feel you are on top of the world.

:-( Only my friend could enjoy the beauty fully because I was driving. So it is better to hire a driver, or hire a vehicle so you don’t have to worry about anything. If you are taking your own vehicle, don’t forget to check the tool kit, the tires, etc. before starting.

The Resort

Facts: Ours was a complete weekend package, that is, from Saturday late morning to Sunday late afternoon, including Saturday’s buffet lunch, Saturday’s evening tea/coffee(with Parle G biscuits), Saturday’s buffet dinner, Sunday’s breakfast, Sunday’s lunch, and Sunday’s evening tea/coffee(with Parle G biscuits). Total package was for Rs.3400 for an AC room. Normal package would have been for Rs.2800 but we would have had to check out at 12:00 noon. So, we extended it at an additional cost of Rs.600. The same for a non-AC room would have costed us Rs.600 less. The room was cozy. In fact was a mini suite with a tiny room with a small sofa, cupboard, etc. and then the bed room was sufficiently spacious.

Payment Method: I had deposited the whole amount in cash into their HDFC account.

:-) It is actually located in the midst of nowhere. It is surrounded by hills, well equipped with indoor games, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, swings, etc. Well maintained too. Idlis were good in the breakfast.

:-( Other than the idlis, the food was just ok, and that includes the buffet as well as the stuff order separately. We had ordered French Fries. Well, the oil was re-re-used. It was stinking. The owner Mr. Narender Singh is very rude. Lunch is served very late(1:45 – 2:00 pm).

The Place

Facts: You can go trekking, visit Bhandardhara which is around 40 kms from the resort, visit Dhammagiri, a Buddhist Meditation centre.

:-) I have a fascination for hills so it was really nice to see those big rocks as if sitting there and talking to me.

:-( This is not the right season to visit Igatpuri. Monsoons or just after monsoon is when you get to see the true beauty of the place.
