Goibibo representative Sumant Bhardwaj called me today with an update. He said that he had spoken with the bank and that the amount will be credited back to the card account within the next 48 hours. So thanks to Goibibo for giving a personal touch to the issue and making sure that it is resolved.


Now I just have my fingers crossed and waiting for the money to be credited:)


Increasing my product rating of Goibibo to 5 stars, since the failed transaction and subsequent denial of a reversal from them was the only grouse I had with them. The great discounts offered continue to beat other travel portals hands down when it comes to getting the greatest bang for your buck!

I tried booking an e-ticket from Hyderabd to Mumbai for 13-Oct-2011. There was an offer going on for Rs. 500/- off on Standard Chartered credit card. After entering the MasterCard secure code while making payment, the transaction failed. However, as expected, the amount got deducted from the account.


I checked with Standard Chartered bank. They said that the merchant(Go-ibibo) had indeed claimed the amount as theirs from the bank 3 days later. In other words, Go-ibibo took the amount from the bank.


When I complained with Go-ibibo, they had a standard response -'We did not take the amount'. This, after I specifchandru021y mentioned that the bank has confirmed in writing that Go-ibibo has taken the amount.


WHAT BIG FRAUDS! They have taken the pains to claim the amount from the bank on a failed transaction. And they have the guts to say that'we have not taken the amount!'.


When I told this to the bank, they said that they will have to cancel the credit card in order to investigate further on this dispute. This will take 45 days. Now I am without a credit card and I am in loss of Rs. 3, 200/-
